@SVPhillimore @MatthewPaige15 @whstancil There are a MILLION ways you can advocate for children, including: a child’s bill of rights, marriage age laws, education, clean drinking water & food - etc.
Parents who listen & act on their kids wishes shouldn’t be your target. That’s so dumb.
@skarsghardy Phew that’s a hell of a take.
My life choices at 17 were so hilariously bad. I’m so glad those weren’t permanent.
Wyll, the treasure, the hero, deserves to be understood better.
@johnnykdrama @humanbeingawk I don’t think we’re going to individual action & social media cleanse our way out of that. Marxism isn’t remotely viable. We can’t even agree on tiny social norms.
It’s also not up to us how younger gens deal. Our job now is to back them up. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
@astralfvck We’ve normalized exploiting each other & empowered jerks by calling being rude & selfish “boundary setting.”
I also think our work lives are so upsetting & abusive that we try to take back agency in our personal lives.
@FrancineHibiscs@ArabellaWrites1 Water. Healthcare. Medical care.
EU countries have strict rules in fees as well. We pay just to have the opportunity to pay for things.
Other countries don’t. It’s sad here.
@Great_Chumpion@Lgrng0@SxarletRed That changed in the 80s with the age restriction on booze.
We started crafting bars as adult only spaces because it’s fun debauchery & the ABC is mean.
@saltopus_rex @machineiv As a kid I loved McCains chill attitude. Family was conservative & I felt that he was the least evil of the bunch.
But yea, this is the new Dem model & it’s weird.
@canadadryh @collnsmith Oh me neither, at all. It’s just been the running theme I’ve seen in my life (including in myself). I was 14 when my brother was born. Perfect babysitting & second parent age. It sucked.
@saryoak@moodyangela@Nickidewbear @The_Feminist_TM Not having kids because you worry about being able to provide resources or a stable environment for them is eugenics?
@WelchRobII They do. They’ve been a voice against oppression everywhere for a long time.
But also, I do not care.
People in my own country vote to take my rights away all the time, & I still believe they deserve human rights.
Don’t be a bad person.
@collnsmith My theory is:
We have no childcare so we use our children as second parents.
Those parentified kids grow up & don’t want children forced on them in their adult spaces (like they were in childhood).
Every child-free adult I know has this story. Anecdotal, but 🤷♀️
@Penny_J_Thomas Almost like the oppression of marginalized & indigenous people is a symptom of something bigger.
That they share a root cause.
Naw. That requires a step more in logic, better leave it at “suspicious”
