We are co-sponsoring the "Defund: Conversations Toward Abolition" book talk with Calvin Smiley happening at the SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation at Concordia. Its happening on Friday April 11, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm. See you there!
It's been quiet around here, so just popping in to say that we no longer have a collect call line! Our volunteer crew can't keep it going! Tell folks on the inside they can still write to us! PRS c/o CKUT 3647 University Street, Montreal, Quebec, H3A2B3.
Speeches from @SolidariteMTL and Palestine solidarity organizers, MC'd by one of @ckut's very own. Visited the federal, provincial, and migrant prisons in Laval and then stopped by Bordeaux on the island.
#NoiseDemo last night was great. Almost 150 people, lots of fireworks, high energy. If your loved ones inside couldn't hear us, tell them to tune in to @ckut tomorrow at 6pm to catch the speeches and chants! #FreeThemAll
His situation isn't that unique. The prison system uses difft kinds of segregation to punish people and divide the inside population from each other. Whether it is administrative segregation or segregation as punishment, it wears on your mind and your sanity. #FreeThemAll (end)
Got a call from someone in Bordeaux the other day. He wanted to share that he's been in seg for 9.5 months. He has no access to school, psychosocial programs, sports, or anything that would be beneficial to his mental health. He already has mental health challenges and ADHD. (1)
He talked about being harassed and feeling like the guards are trying to provoke him. He talked about the lack of privacy for dealing with medical stuff with doctors and nurses and finding out that his personal info was shared and used to harass him after. (2)
We just found out that Tommy Bassio was put in segregation and transferred out of province after doing this interview with us through his lawyer: https://t.co/Mgmm2Ceeiy This is outrageous! Shame on @CSC_SCC_en!
Not entirely sure who has the power to change this situation. The tip mentioned Aide Juridique/Legal Aid having the ability to post signs. We're assuming this isn't just a problem at RDP! (3)
We got a tip recently that said that cops are not providing prisoners with the ability to make phone calls after appearing in front of the judge. The tip went on to talk about how the bull pens at RDP don't have any information about how the phones work. (1)
This effectively denies phone access to prisoners. If you don't know how the phone system works, you can't use it. Esp since making collect calls to cell phones generally doesn't work. The tip suggested signs get put up in French, English, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, and Inuit. (2)
We're late to the game, but we shouted out this petition on our last show! Check it out, share it, get your union/organization/collective to sign on to it.
Check-out the latest call to action from Demand Prisons Change.

Also we have a new call number! You can now reach us collect from Bordeaux or RDP at 438-858-6116 - tell your people on the inside please! Thanks to the folks at FedPhoneLine for the free number.
Police shootings rose by almost 25% in Canada in 2022. *This* rise in violence is not being treated with the same urgency by political leaders, and is not considered an emergency requiring immediate action from all levels of govt #SupportsNotPolice https://t.co/1NIJH90sC1
