To help veterans in custody maximise employability and prepare for a positive, independent life after release, our charity has partnered with the @PrisonRadioUK and recently awarded a £10,000 grant towards its Supporting Veterans Behind Bars project.
The charity runs National Prison Radio, a 24‑hour station that is broadcast directly into prison cells across England and Wales, providing information, positive role models and pathways to services.

#NationalPrisonRadio is there in the moments that matter. The rest is down to people like Vinnie 💫
So proud to have played a part in your journey. Thank you for everything you do to support others who need that inspiration, and those ideas to run with 👊
“Winning an ARIA showed everyone that we can build life after prison. It showed that creative writing is a powerful tool, radio is a powerful tool and using our stories to tell the world the realities of prison is a powerful move” ✊

@bbc5live 🤝 NPR
Great to welcome Lindsay & Izzy into our studio to work with our prisoner-producers at HMP Styal.
Sessions like this help our producers build a broader mix of skills that can open doors in radio and podcasting when they leave prison.

We spent the day recording for National Prison Radio, speaking to young people about the reality of leaving custody, the support they’ve received, and the steps they’re taking to move forward 🚀
A powerful reminder of the voices behind the walls 💙
@PrisonRadioUK is more than just broadcasting - it’s connection, understanding, and lived experience shared every day.
👏 Big respect to presenters like Ali making a difference.

Everyone’s talking about our patron Louis #Theroux and the #manosphere.
96% of people in prison in England & Wales are men. In a largely male world cut off from the outside extreme ideas about masculinity can take hold.
Through NPR we create space for healthier conversations 💬
🏠 Rough sleeping after #prison increases reoffending - up to 72.7% return to custody within a year.

An estimated 17,000 children in England and Wales are affected by maternal imprisonment every year, and around 55% of women in prison in the UK are Mums.
Through conversations like these, we aim to provide support, connection, solidarity and a sense of community.
For mums inside prison, for children outside, and for families navigating the space in between.
For mums and children affected by the criminal justice system, today may feel especially heavy. We hope our radio shows and podcasts can offer moments of comfort, calm, and peace 🕊️
Great to see so many friends who have supported & encouraged me in recovery at the #ngsn event in London today. Chuffed to see Steve & Ben from @HoldorFoldpod@PrisonRadioUK in the flesh after lots of virtual meetings and hear of all the great work they do @Betknowmore@AidPeer
