TN isn’t as progressive as it portrays itself to be. Imagine hating a movie for what it says, while having no problem with movies glorifying caste and sexualising women. #Dorothy brought out many homophobes who are okay with lesbians as long as they can still sexualise women..
#Dorothy has been watched.
Tears have been shed.
Smiles have been adorned.
Life has been lived.
And most importantly...
Love has been seen, heard, felt, and... transformative.
A big hug to everyone involved in the film
@karthiksubbaraj, you are a beautiful filmmaker.
And as it is said before, now, and forever...
Raaja, Raaja dhaan.
30 mins into Dorothy, I knew I was watching something special. I was just so swept away by the beauty of it.
And by the end, I got to experience the most courageous film of the year.
Subbu maams has cooked something Oscar material.
With an energy of a Goodfellas/City of God and a heart of Almodovar, Balu Mahendra, Balachancer & Mani Ratnam, Karthik Subbaraj frees himself from the shackles of star-driven commercial cinema and creates something so moving, magical, cinematic and ballsy.
After Iraivi, this is a film of his that shook me the most and I'm unable to come out of its trance.
If this film flows like a beautiful river, Ilaiyaraja's music is like a boat that flows gently on its current, irreplaceable from the stream. Or is IR's music the river and the film, the boat?
Big hugs to both Rishikanth and Sananth for doing this with so much grace. It's a film that could elevate them to much greater heights and I really hope it does
My only request: if the film doesn't work for you, it's okay. But please stop sharing clips from the climax/ending and spoiling someone's experience.
#Dorothy has to be easily be the best works of @karthiksubbaraj and has to give it to him for that 🫡 what a movie da yabba !! Peak cinematography and visuals, amazing acting by every actor on screen and #Mastero mastero dhan ya!! Go watch in theatre y'all !
