Proud of my young colleague who kept her composure. Of course, on ground it's easier to say this since one can only imagine what she must be going through. But what's clear is that this guy is a coward who didn't even have the courage to show his face.
@TanushkaDutta don't ever let such goons get to you. Now or ever.
At least once a day I feel like that scene in friends where Chandler interns in that ad agency and makes captions for doughnuts.

Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. @nsitharaman today chaired a meeting with senior officials of Department of Economic Affairs @FinMinIndia to review key outcomes of the BRICS Finance Track and prepare for the final BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in Mumbai during September 9-10, ahead of the Leaders’ Summit.
Following the successful meeting of Ministers and Governors in Jaipur last month, preparations are now underway for the Mumbai meeting - with a strong team of women bringing leadership, expertise and experience to the Finance Track, guided by the theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
The PG/hostel situation though is a silo in the larger question of how we urbanise and the crumbling infra in our cities. Read this piece by @Tushar15 on how and why our biggest urban centres have to be re-energised.

The ‘Double Engine’ governance model has a problem. The Centre is doing all the right things, but the state governments and urban local bodies are not keeping their promises.

There are few things more pathetic and sorrowful than taking home a soul-less family member from a hostel or PG. The Satya Niketan tragedy has hit home for those of us who have spent our college lives in hostels.
Think about it. These were students sweating it out (literally and figuratively) in the hope of a better life. All of their dreams, aspirations and hopes snuffed out by apathy.
All of us who have lived the hostel life have, at that time, grit our teeth and put up with inflated rents, and sub-par living conditions in the belief that this is paying our dues so that we can get to a better future. For the kids who lost their lives this week, that future never came.
Two pieces that are a must watch/read to confront the scale of the problem. The first, this excellent report by @PadmajaJoshi on the living conditions in such PGs. It starkly shows the price of dreams today.

@Tushar15 Wasn't it because they were important members of The Order. Agree though - would've been nice to know how exactly James and Lily pissed him off. Maybe they offered him nasal drops?
When I get mails like this, my day is made.
Name withheld writes: 'I'm 26, from a lower-middle-class family, and was the first engineer at a startup that's now being acquired. Over the next four years I'll receive more money than anyone in my family has ever handled. I want to know what errors first gen earners make when they suddenly get a lot of money. And how to get a foreign allocation?'
Please listen to the question for its honesty and balance in episode 124 of #LetsTalkMoneywithMonikaHalan

Those who were at the receiving end of go end of lathicharge on Monday in Jharkhand.
Lights switched off. Police came from the dark without warning. Male cops beat women: just some of the testimonies of survivors. Here 👇🏻
The ocean doesn't apologize for having high tides and low tides. It doesn't force a high tide 24/7 to prove it’s a good ocean. Stop expecting constant peak performance from yourself.
Trees don’t panic in the winter thinking, "Oh no, I’m not growing leaves, I’m a failure." They just rest and wait for spring. You are allowed to have a low-yield season without calling it a personal crisis.
I wasn’t prepared for how crappy and listless ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is. The makers basically looked at everything they made the first film pop so memorably, made a list, and removed it from the sequel. Even Meryl Streep looked embarrassed to be in it.
@devaiahPB You should’ve headed to Araku next door for relationships on life support kept alive by pretentious mumbles on single origin, locally sourced coffee.
