Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, on May 29, 2026 released a commemorative volume on #OperationSindoor, documenting the personal testimonies of 100 officers, sailors, airmen and soldiers who participated in the operation.

Raksha Mantri termed the publication a tribute to those who executed the operation, highlighting the devotion, courage and resilience of the Armed Forces. He stated that citizens should draw inspiration from the book and strive to be worthy of the immense sacrifices made to safeguard the nation’s security and sovereignty.

India's defence growth story has made many milestones during the last 4399 Days of dynamic leadership of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. A big initiative has been launched, shifting from "Buyer" to "Builder" in defence production. Defence production have touched an all-time high of ₹1.54 lakh crore in FY 2024-25 registering a rise of over 234% from FY 2014-15.

Import dependency has been significantly reduced with 65% of defence equipment now manufactured domestically.

India's defence equipment are now reaching to more than 80 nations, recognizing our high quality standard of indigenous defence equipment.

Emerging as a revolution, nurturing 680 Start-ups/Innovators join defence innovation ecosystem with 556 contracts signed; received 68 clearances for procurement; and 51 procurement contracts worth Rs 2,659 crores signed through iDEX.
Over 17,000 MSMEs now form the backbone of India's indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.

DPSUs in collaboration with emerging startups across its business verticals, harnessing their innovation and recognizing their valuable contributions towards building Aatmanirbharta in defence manufacturing. DPSUs through Apprenticeship Training, PM Vishwakarma, PM Internship Scheme, Centres of Excellence, Vocational Training Centres, and On-the-Job training have turned potential into purpose, and skills into sustainable livelihoods for youth.

During the last 12 years a spurt in fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem has taken place to strengthen research and advanced manufacturing capabilities with the active participation of young scientists, engineers, and technologists to shape the next generation of products and solutions in our defence manufacturing ecosystem.

At the @phdchamber seminar on “Indigenisation & Modernisation Requirement of Central Armed Police Forces” chaired by Shri Prasanna R, IAS, Joint Secretary (Police Modernization), Ministry of Home Affairs, India Optel Limited (IOL) showcased its role as a leader in #AatmanirbharBharat.

General Manager, IOL, Shri Tarun Khattar highlighted the vital link between current operational requirements and IOL's indigenous electro-optical capabilities. Adding to the technical depth, Addl. General Manager, Shri Raghav Gupta emphasized that the path to indigenising complex tactical systems lies in "deepened collaboration" between the industry and the end-user.

Raksha Rajya Mantri, Shri Sanjay Seth listed out the number of steps taken by the Government to increase the participation of the private sector, especially MSMEs and start-ups. He stated that the all-time high allocation of Rs 7.85 lakh crore to the Ministry of Defence in the Union Budget 2026–27 provides an opportunity to MSMEs and start-ups to make the nation self-reliant.
