But intact bodies are the norm for most of the world, and developed intact countries have lower STIs too. There's no real pressing need to cut

It is to the point that some call theirs FGC because they believe it is incomparable to African FGM. They think theirs is fine, but other forms are damaging.

Since all they care about is severity, they have only succeeded in medicalizing FGM.

It's a hood prick, but it's still a human rights violation. We should ban these procedures on the basis of bodily right, not degree of harm.
