“His wish was to see a Real Madrid match up close at the Bernabéu. That wish is now written on his gravestone.”
Mehrdad Moshtaghi never got to live out that dream and was only 27 years old.
Brilliant and driven, he ranked 200th in Iran’s fiercely competitive national university entrance exam and became an architectural engineer with a sharp, curious mind.
Intelligent, thoughtful, and deeply loved, he was also a die-hard Madridista.
On the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, in the city of Arak, Mehrdad was struck in the head by a military bullet fired by Islamic Republic death forces.
He was left unconscious and rushed to the hospital. Despite surgery, he suffered brain death and cardiac arrest and passed away on January 10.
Had he lived in any other country, a world of opportunity would have been open to him. Instead, under the Islamic Republic, he became yet another young life stolen in the #IranMassacre.
His brother later shared an image of Mehrdad’s gravestone, engraved with the Real Madrid logo, a quiet testament to a life full of promise and a dream that should have been fulfilled, not buried.
