The culmination of nearly a decade of work: my new paper with Louise Blight @procellaria11 and Wilson Cao on urban-nesting Glaucous-winged Gulls (GWGUs) of @CityofVancouver now online in Ecological Modelling. I'll give the highlights here, but more to come soon. 1/7
Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza virus #HPAI has caused the deaths of MANY wild birds across the globe in recent years. It's finally made it's way to the #Antarctic region. We knew it would, but still. Devastated.

The fabled urban Heermann’s Gulls of Seaside, CA. Forced to relocate at least 7 times in the past 10-15 years due mostly to human inhospitality, this small but magnificent colony is one of the most stunning examples of #urbangull success and tenacity on the planet. 1/3
Great story by @SheenaGoodyear on the vagaries of #gull diet, and our perceptions of #UrbanGulls: "they get a bad reputation simply for being resilient and resourceful".

@dgkeyes Depends on deadlines, but to avoid overwhelm, generally try to focus on completing one or two projects or milestones.
