Tried the ADHD med my NP prescribed and it made me feel like I was just coming out of major anesthesia…the entire day. And nauseous. Not exactly what I was hoping for….
@AutisticCoach_ Soo not stretchy. When I started yoga at 30 I had the same flexibility as the 70 yo next to me w/a double hip transplant. Years of yoga for incremental progress. Now I do yin yoga + regular STRETCHIT app and am seeing much faster results.
@TraceyDalton50@AutisticCallum_ Yup, 💯. I’m hyperlexic and now a professor. I had to figure out that I’m autistic myself at 40. People when I tell them just look confused.. sometimes I feel lucky to be able to mask well and sometimes I feel weirdly jealous of those who can’t: so burnt out. I guess we all are?
@PilsonAnna For me at least, coherence comes with hyper focus and being forced to do the writing I’m dreading. So embrace whatever gets you to the latter two?
@PilsonAnna Accountability and deadlines are what kick my brain into gear. I started meeting a grad school friend daily to write at a coffee shop. Rule: we could only write or bitch about writing. And I scheduled my defense so I had a deadline. Oh and..read War & Peace to deal w/insomnia lol
@hannamashima That said for some autistics pets contribute to sensory overload. Depends on the autistic person. But for others (like me) a dog is literally necessary to my health.
@hannamashima Growing up with dogs — coming home to their ❤️ after a school day filled with bullying & sensory overload — helped keep me going through the hell years in school. Newly diagnosed as an adult & getting my GSD trained as a service dog bc he provides so much comfort.
Trying to get back to writing the book & my brain is staging an active rebellion..I can feel the neurons waving lil’ protest flags #AuDHD#academicwriting
#ActuallyAutistic hell for me = masking on stage in an auditorium in front of an audience doing a “conversational round table” where they changed the q’s 2 hours ahead & they keep asking the *other* person about MY special interest/expertise & have to stay quiet & act normal 😱
For me, I self dx’d autism and that realization was a relief.. but for some reason I’m feeling incredibly sad about the additional ADHD discovery when I got my formal combined diagnosis of #AuDHD.. still figuring out why bc #alexithymia
#AskingAutistics who are ##AuDHD — did you have different emotional responses to finding out you’re #autistic vs finding out you’re #ADHD? Especially if they happened separately?
