Nearly 70 years since the Sovereign first opened Parliament, we welcomed Their Majesties back to Canada — a nation proud of its roots and with a bold, ambitious plan for its future.
Enjoyed speaking today to lawyers across the province with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service.
We covered ways AI and criminality intersect, AI tools police have used, practical advice on generative AI, professional obligations, and handling deepfake evidence concerns.
@Gray_Mackenzie Let's try this again.
Question: Do you think home prices need to go down?
Answer: Absolutely. Housing for many Canadians is unaffordable. Our government has a plan to address that. [Then recite the platform commitments]
Next question.
After the first meeting of his new cabinet, PM Mark Carney signs an order that he says will deliver his government’s proposed middle-class tax cut by July 1st. “Canadians sent a clear message that they need to see improvements in their affordability,” he says.

So basically @ABDanielleSmith comes clean that she's fomenting a national unity crisis in an attempt to prevent the separation of her own UCP party

"I'd like to run and hide," Alberta's Indigenous Minister said today.
It came after one Chief threw Bill 54 on the ground yesterday and another said the premier is "not welcome here anymore."
More tonight. #ableg#cdnpoli@CityNewsYEG
"Mr. Carney performed just about as well as Canada could’ve hoped for its new Prime Minister. He did exactly what he was elected to do, which is to act as the adult in what is really a very silly – but high-stakes – situation."

Carney to Trump: "There are some places that are never for sale ... having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign, it's not for sale. It won't be for sale ever."
Regardless of how the meeting with President Trump goes, PM @MarkJCarney has set out a clear plan to build Canada's economy and to strengthen our international alliances.
While hoping for the best, Canadians aren't naive and will prepare for the worst.
Don Davies will do a great job as NDP interim leader.
A thoughtful, hardworking and experienced MP, @DonDavies has a track record of working across party lines.

Next stop: Mt Tremblant, QB in June - a 21 km mountain race with 30 obstacles. That will be toughest one yet.
PM @MarkJCarney and Premier @ABDanielleSmith had a "positive" first meeting. Great news.
There is no reason why Alberta can't thrive in a united Canada. Let's work together folks as Canadians.

Just finished a positive first meeting with Prime Minister @MarkJCarney. We spoke at length about the policies and legislation that are holding back Alberta’s economy, and specific proposals for projects and legislative reforms that will significantly increase market access for Alberta oil and gas, agricultural products and other goods. The Prime Minister made it clear he intended to rapidly advance these kinds of nation building projects in the coming weeks and months. We also discussed our ongoing trade dispute with the United States and how the federal government can work cooperatively with our province to advance both Canada’s and Alberta’s interests.
Repairing the damage to Alberta’s economy caused by Ottawa’s last 10-years of anti-resource legislation and policies will take tremendous effort and cooperation, however, today’s conversation was a positive first step.
PM @MarkJCarney is getting down to business:
- Meeting President Trump next week
- Appointing new Cabinet the following
- Recalling Parliament with Speech from the Throne by King Charles III
- Canada Day tax cuts and ending federal barriers to inter-provincial trade
