Ever since I left Michigan people have given me a lot of flack for how direct, cutting, & (to some) abrasive my speaking style can be but that’s just how we talk where I’m from 😭 so it’s funny that people say Abdul is off putting in the way he speaks naw that’s just how we talk

One of the most fascinating attack lines to watch in the US Senate race, has been the way national operatives have focused on calling out El-Sayed’s brash, combative communication style as if it’s a negative, or somehow out of character for Michigan.

The ego is a little unique to a particular type of Michigan millennial, but the sharp tongue and dry sarcasm is very Michigan, and it cuts across a lot of demographics/areas. It’s a personality trait that both El-Sayed and Rogers share, imo (it’s part of why the first debate had the energy it did). Just because voters notice it, doesn’t mean they mind it.

Elizabeth Holmes is a fascinating character because if you spend time around startup / investor / venture capital / etc type people you quickly realize she was not particularly exceptional or out of the ordinary but she was made an example of to absolve others of the same sins
