So… of course the first thing I look for is education. Looks like Biden breaks with his last two Democratic predecessors (Obama & Clinton) who stand out for how much more they talked about education than other post-WWII presidents.
@policyagendas has finished coding #sotu2023.
@POTUS spent about as much time on Macro Economic issues as most other presidents; but much more time on Health and Law/Crime. He spent much less time on International Affairs and Defense.
Every year, at this season, my mind returns to this most fundamental of concerns:
How is it possible that someone so brilliant and creative wrote something so terrible as "Wonderful Christmastime"?!
The Second Amendment did not come down from Sinai. The right to bear arms will never be more important than human life. Our children have rights too. And our elected officials have a moral duty to protect them.
As I reflect on this latest American massacre, I keep returning to the questions: Who are we as a nation if we do not act to protect our children? What do we love more: our instruments of death or our future?
I'm sorry to keep passing news like this along, but having been present for one of these nights, I just want you all to understand what is happening right now, as the bodies are being identified. It's f-ing awful, and it's just our choice whether we want this to continue.
Trust in local news remains stronger than trust in national news, but the trends are very similar.
Here’s the trend in trust of national news for comparison.
There has been a lot of interesting info so far in the 2022 installment of our annual @ReillyCenter Louisiana Survey, but what I find so very striking is the hit trust in local news has taken in recent years…across parties.
#LSU students! Please take the time to take my 1-2 survey for my Tiger TV story. I’m working to get some perspective on how students think LA is doing (inspired by the @ReillyCenter Louisiana Survey) https://t.co/ODRln0hFss
Interesting trend: Student reporters are filling gaps in statehouse coverage in some states. The total number of statehouse reporters in Nebraska, for example, rose from 18 in 2014 to 69 this year, mostly due to a big increase in student reporters. https://t.co/BPH9HUBiz5
