I do indeed. But what I would have said if they had asked me is that the issue of whether free association is a form of independence has become a red herring. /1

What this means is that if the US and Puerto Rico enter into a free association agreement with a term of, say, 25 years, and they decide not to negotiate an extension, Puerto Rico reverts to being a U.S. territory. Seriously? I disagree. But if he's right… /9
