I was deeply humbled by the warmth, affection and overwhelming reception accorded to me by the good people of Zaria and Sabon Gari as we flagged off the construction of eleven strategic township roads across four locations under Phase II of our Urban Renewal and Rural Transformation Programme. That thousands of our people stood patiently in the rain to welcome us was more than a ceremonial gesture; it was a powerful expression of hope, resilience and confidence in our shared vision for a greater Kaduna State. I sincerely thank the people of Zaria and Sabon Gari for their hospitality, goodwill and unwavering belief in our administration. Their trust continues to inspire us to serve with humility, diligence and an even greater sense of responsibility.

The roads, to be constructed by Mothercat Limited and CGC Nigeria Limited, will significantly improve connectivity, ease the movement of people and goods, stimulate commerce, expand economic opportunities and enhance the quality of life across the benefiting communities. More importantly, they reaffirm our unwavering commitment to equitable and inclusive development in every part of Kaduna State.

I am profoundly grateful to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, GCON; the Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli; former Governor Ramalan Yero; and other distinguished leaders and stakeholders whose presence and generous words of encouragement reflected our collective determination to advance the development of Zaria and Kaduna State.

PROJECT UPDATE: Steady progress continues on the KABALA COSTAIN TO ALIYU MAKAMA ROAD, BARNAWA, revived by Governor Uba Sani after it had been abandoned at approximately 30% completion.

CURRENT ITEM OF WORK: Reinforcement works for the bridge deck slab in preparation for concrete casting, bringing the project closer to completion.

This revival reflects Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to completing abandoned projects and delivering quality infrastructure that improves connectivity and enhances the lives of the people of Kaduna State.

Since inception of our administration, we have performed groundbreaking for the construction of 79 roads across Kaduna State, totaling 780 kilometers. So far, 28 roads have been completed and commissioned, while the others are at various stages of completion. This road commissioning symbolises the progress we are making together as a community and reflects our collective aspirations for a better tomorrow. This is just a foretaste of what this administration can do by the grace of God and with the support of the people. I therefore urge all stakeholders - community leaders, local government officials, and citizens - to take ownership of this road. Let us work together to ensure the road is well maintained and utilised to its fullest potential.

I thank all stakeholders, including our engineers, contractors, and the people of Sabon Gari Local Government Area, for their support and cooperation. This achievement is a testament to what can be accomplished through dogged commitment, collective effort and a shared vision for a better Kaduna State.

It was a privilege to deliver the keynote address and participate in the panel discussion at the National Security Roundtable on Constitutional Reform and the Establishment of State Police Services, organised by the National Assembly Library Trust Fund in Abuja. The Roundtable brought together an eminent gathering of security practitioners, legislators, constitutional scholars, policymakers and other distinguished stakeholders to deliberate on one of the most consequential institutional reforms before our nation. At a time when Nigeria's security challenges are becoming increasingly complex and multidimensional, such thoughtful engagement is essential to shaping a constitutional and institutional framework that is both responsive to present realities and resilient enough to meet future demands.

In my keynote address, I reaffirmed my support for the establishment of State Police as a vital component of a more effective and responsive national security architecture. I stressed, however, that the success of this reform will depend not merely on constitutional amendment, but on building institutions anchored on professionalism, accountability, operational independence and robust constitutional safeguards.

I emphasised that State Police should complement, not replace, the Nigeria Police Force, with both institutions operating within a coordinated framework founded on collaboration, intelligence sharing and clearly defined constitutional responsibilities. I also underscored the imperative of nationally benchmarked recruitment and training standards, technology-driven policing, independent oversight and sustainable funding.

Drawing from our experience in Kaduna State, I observed that lasting security is built through trust, dialogue, inclusion, community partnership and intelligence-led policing. I remain convinced that a carefully designed State Police system will deepen federalism, strengthen democratic governance and significantly enhance the protection of lives and property across our country.

In my capacity as the Coordinating Governor of the North West Zone, I had the honour today of hosting the All Progressives Congress (APC) North West Stakeholders Meeting in Kaduna.

The meeting was attended by the APC National Chairman, the Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy President of the Senate, Governors of Kebbi and Jigawa States, Deputy Governor of Katsina, Ministers from the North West, National Assembly and State Assembly members from the North West, Presidential aides from the North West, APC State Chairmen and party stakeholders from North West. We took a critical look at the state of the party in the zone, assessed the performances of elected and appointed officials at the Federal and State Levels, and mapped out effective strategies to consolidate the party's dominance.

One of the major highlights of the well attended meeting was the passing of a Vote of Confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and his endorsement as the sole candidate of the North West Zone in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential Election. Building on my well received submission that President Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon support to the North West with key interventions in the areas of infrastructure, security, agriculture, as well as the appointment of two service chiefs and 12 Ministers from the zone, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Ph.D moved a motion for a vote of confidence on President Tinubu "for his progressive governance, inclusive leadership and unwavering support to the good people of the North West Zone." The motion was seconded by the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Nasir Idris. The Speaker thereafter put the question, and the response from the stakeholders was a resounding YES.

I join family, friends, colleagues and countless admirers across Nigeria and beyond in celebrating my dear friend, Prince Nduka Obaigbena (The Duke), on the joyous occasion of his 67th birthday and the 40th anniversary of the founding of THISWEEK magazine; a pioneering publication that transformed the landscape of Nigerian journalism and laid the foundation for one of Africa's most influential media institutions.

Forty years ago, when many were content to follow familiar paths, The Duke chose to chart a new course. With uncommon vision, courage and intellectual audacity, he founded THISWEEK, a publication that challenged conventions, raised professional standards and redefined investigative and public-interest journalism in Nigeria. That bold enterprise evolved into THISDAY and the ARISE Media Group, institutions that have continued to shape public discourse, deepen democratic engagement and project African perspectives onto the global stage.

Prince Nduka Obaigbena is much more than an accomplished media entrepreneur. He is a humanist whose generosity has opened doors for countless professionals; a patriot whose unwavering belief in Nigeria has never faltered; a nationalist who understands that a strong democracy is sustained by a free, courageous and responsible press; and a steadfast pro-democracy crusader who has consistently defended the principles of free expression, accountability and good governance.

His remarkable journey is a testament to what visionary leadership can achieve. A trailblazer by instinct, bold in thought and resolute in action, he has never allowed convention to limit ambition. Time and again, he has demonstrated that institutions of enduring value are built by those who possess the courage to dream beyond the ordinary and the discipline to transform vision into reality.

Beyond his extraordinary professional accomplishments lies an even greater legacy: his abiding faith in people. He has mentored generations of journalists, nurtured talent, created opportunities and inspired countless young Nigerians to believe that excellence is not an aspiration but a duty.

As he marks this double milestone, I pray that Almighty God grants him continued good health, even sharper mental acuity, renewed strength and many more years of purposeful service to our beloved nation, the African continent and humanity at large.

Happy 67th Birthday, The Duke. May your remarkable legacy continue to inspire generations, and may your vision keep illuminating the path toward a stronger democracy, a freer press and a more prosperous Nigeria.

I was particularly encouraged by the heartfelt testimonies of community leaders and other stakeholders, who described these projects as transformative investments that have restored hope, improved mobility and opened new opportunities for commerce, agriculture and social life. Their appreciation strengthens our resolve to continue pursuing a development agenda anchored on fairness, equity and justice, without regard to ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.

These roads will improve access to schools, healthcare facilities and markets while supporting agricultural productivity in Nigeria's leading ginger-producing state. Our vision remains unwavering: to build a Kaduna State where every community is included, every citizen is valued, and every part of our State shares equitably in the dividends of sustainable development.

In Kaduna State, we are already taking deliberate steps. We have introduced state-specific policies—including our Contract Farming Policy, Soybean Policy, Gender in Agriculture Policy, and Ease of Doing Business in Agriculture strategy. We are building robust data systems to track production, guide planning, and attract private investment. These efforts align closely with national initiatives and partnerships with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, AGRA, the World Bank, and others.

I sincerely thank the Vice President, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, my fellow Governors, Commissioners, and our development partners for their unwavering commitment to repositioning agriculture in Nigeria. Together, we can build a competitive, coordinated, and resilient food system—one that empowers our farmers, grows our economy, and secures our nation’s future.

I was delighted to return to Kwoi in Jaba Local Government Area to fulfil a solemn promise made during the groundbreaking ceremony on 11 September 2025 by commissioning the Audu Tilo Road, Sabon Gari Road, Doctor Sani Road, Hospital Road, Kpop Ham Palace Road and the strategic Kwoi–Gora Road. The warmth, enthusiasm and genuine joy with which the people received us were deeply humbling and reaffirmed the enduring bond of trust between our administration and the citizens we are privileged to serve. There is no greater fulfilment in public service than returning to a community to demonstrate that promises made have indeed become promises kept.

For more than two decades, Jaba Local Government Area witnessed no completed road construction and stood among the twelve local government areas that suffered prolonged neglect in critical road infrastructure. Today, that unfortunate chapter has given way to a new era of purposeful development. Since assuming office on 29 May 2023, our administration has initiated 150 road projects spanning more than 1,355 kilometres across all twenty-three local government areas of Kaduna State, with the overwhelming majority already completed.

I was in Zaria today to pay a condolence visit to the family of my uncle, the late Capt. Shehu Iyal, who passed away on May 15, 2025.

Capt. Iyal was an elder statesman and a distinguished aviation expert. He served Nigeria with dedication as a Presidential Adviser on Aviation to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. His immense contributions played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s aviation industry. He will be profoundly missed.

May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, grant him Aljanatul Firdaus, and give his family and loved ones the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss. Ameen.

It is with a heavy heart, yet deep gratitude to Almighty Allah (SWT), that I received the sad news of the passing of Alhaji Ramalan Yero, father of H.E Alhaji Muktar Ramalan Yero, former Governor of Kaduna State.

Alhaji Ramalan was a respected traditional title holder, religious leader, and elder statesman. He is remembered for his dedication, hard work and his devotion to community service. He was turbaned as the Turakin Dawakin Zazzau.

With his passing, the Zazzau Emirate has lost a voice of wisdom, Kaduna State has lost a statesman, and the Muslim Ummah has lost a pillar of strength and guidance.

We pray that Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. May the Almighty also grant H.E Ramalan Muktar Yero and his family the strength and patience to bear this irreplaceable loss.
