I have said it before & will surely say it again soon, but anyone else who made a post like this would be forcibibly institutionalized or fired from their job for being an out of control deranged lunatic.
@WhiteHouse The fact that renaming random bodies of water matters more to the current U.S. administration than getting to the bottom of the Epstein pedophile scandal tells you everything you need to know about its priorities.
New Premier League season kicks off in less than an hour and it's 3 and a half years since the PL charged Man Cit with 115 alleged breaches of PL rules and almost 2 years since disciplinary hearing concluded. Absolutely ridiculous that there's been zero transparency on this 1/n
Given what we’ve seen in football over the years (and very recently) - investors and owners having a destructive impact on clubs, not least at LFC with Hicks and Gillett - the reaction of some to the idea that a supporters’ group might ask for communication, answers to reasonable questions and an opportunity to work together is, er, a bit mad to say the least.
I’ll be honest, I was barely aware of who Jason Arday was until this week. Learned a lot covering the story on Tuesday.
One thing that interests me is that some of the most senior people in British academia believed he was: a world class marathon runner, one of Britain’s most impressive charity fundraisers, an apprentice at Crystal Palace football club, a plausible snooker pro, and that he had brain surgery weeks before his viva (which meant memory loss).
The liberal intelligentsia like to think they are smarter than everyone else, but most people would hear that and think “hang on, this doesn’t really sound very possible does it”.
The entire history of AC Milan is in tears following the passing of Franco Baresi. His example and integrity will be forever etched into the Club's DNA, just as his iconic number 6 shirt is. The condolences AC Milan extends to Franco Baresi's family at such a difficult time are shared by every Rossonero, who feels this loss as their own.
Cape Verde was a great story. Truly great. But 2 weeks after, football doesn't give a fuck, less so after 1, 2 or 4 years.
If Mauritius, Mozambique, Mali do the same, great, but for 99% of fans, 99% of the time, across the world, nobody cares.
If France, Italy, Germany, England, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal boycott a World Cup, it's automatically invalid. It's just the truth.
Likewise, a club World Cup without any of Europe's top 25 clubs is invalid. Nobody is watching Inter Miami v Boca Juniors except in markets that simply don't generate revenue or global interest.
UEFA should immediately take over global law making ( UEFA replace FIFA 4 votes in a new IFAB with the 4 home nations continuing holding the other 4 votes).
Europe has paid football's bills for 150 years. It does not need to vote for a man in an island of 100,000 to hold the game to random because FIFA are giving him 20 mil.
I'm half English, half Barbadian. One has paid its football dues, the other hasn't, so the other cannot and must not hold the balance of power.
When two thirds of football nations fill their stadiums, support grassroots football, create a pyramid, have women's teams, find kids, then their vote is equal to a European powerhouse.
Not a day before.
Time for UEFA to secede from FIFA
FIFA needs UEFA. UEFA doesn't need FIFA.
Let me say this very directly.
Football does not belong to investors. It belongs to the people who fill the stands and who stand on the touchline week in, week out, rain or shine.
The World Cup is not a product. It is the greatest competition in world sport, and it was never anyone's to sell. Dress the deal up however you like. Once you have sold a piece of it, you have sold out.
Football belongs to the fans. It always has, and it always will.
A renegade polymath with binoculars and a beard , Bill was invariably funny and occasionally furious . He loved birds and loathed those who harmed them . He was delightfully unpredictable , sparky , smart and at times a bit spiky . Critically he really knew his stuff , and his passion was true - he didn’t just pick up his binoculars on telly , he went birding whenever he could . So he was genuine and that’s why we loved him , he never needed a script , and took scant interest in any he was given . He didn’t like rules and often neglected to play by them . This may have frustrated the serious and the worthy but it always amused his audience - he was an utter joy to be with . I recall finding a Black Woodpecker in a damp Dutch park with him once , he gazed at it intently , sighed , put down his bins , turned to me and just smiled . A massive grin . No words , just a beautiful childlike bliss . That says all you need to know about Bill Oddie .
Sadly we’ve not only lost a goodie , we’ve lost one of the besties .
We are deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary Kevin Keegan and mourn his loss. His indomitable spirit and remarkable contribution will be forever etched in our history and his legacy will live on.
Rest in peace, Kevin. 1951-2026
As Andrew & Tristan Tate are arrested in Miami.
Reminder the Tate brothers are suing me in Florida for defamation for making videos of them seemingly self-snitching to the alleged crimes they're charged with. https://t.co/4wazZaV9Br
