The first coin minted from Mars. CA derived via HKDF-SHA256 from HiRISE frame ESP_094000_1735, imaged by MRO in orbit. Commit-reveal, publicly verifiable.
$MARS is the first coin born from Mars, via @NASA.
The token mint was derived from real data on the Martian surface.
How we made it:
We took HiRISE frame ESP_094000_1735, imaged in orbit by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter
We hashed the raw image data
We ran that hash through HKDF-SHA256 with a fixed salt (MARS-MINT-v1) and the frame ID plus its capture timestamp as context
The 32-byte output became the mint's seed, so Mars itself decided the address
The proof is public. We published a commit-reveal record on our site, pictured below: the commitment hash, the Mars image hash, the salt and the context string. Pull the frame from NASA's public archive, run the derivation yourself, and you'll land on the same address.
A token born 140 million miles away.

A bit late, but thanks.
The comical part is a lot of these early preemptive 'checks' from this bot are causing real impacts on tokens in early phases.
Not sure how I feel about it. But I'll leave this here!

@projectmarscoin LIKELY REAL (70/100): The reveal checks out: the NASA image hash, the commitment and the derived address all reproduce. Half the seed is the team's own entropy, which was secret untilβ¦
Checks the claim, not the team: real projects can still rug. DYOR.

How about now? Real yet?π @Larpcheckbot
@bakeryeth@projectmarscoin@NASA PARTLY REAL (38/100): The NASA image and the mint are real, but the address wasn't decided by Mars: it also depends on the team's secret entropy, which hasn't been revealed, so theβ¦

Believe me, was just as if not more annoyed than you were brother.
I literally want the token to bond more than anybody.
If it doesn't, literally -ROI.
Having a nice lift off and ultimately bonding is the immediate first concern.
Finally we got it done, but yeah, there was obviously a lot of people with early supply, and the way it teased bond for so long just created an intermittent collapse.
Luckily a good narrative will always go.
Still here pushing now as well.

$MARS is the first coin born from Mars. Its mint address was derived from NASA's HiRISE frame ESP_094000_1735, imaged in orbit by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
The proof:
Download the frame's JP2 from NASA's public PDS archive
sha256 it: 436965b5β¦0d69b3
Before launch we committed to a secret 32-byte entropy, publishing only its hash: 2267aad3β¦82aaed
It's now revealed: 6dfb47bea576a3b87020b64a82540d24502245bc34b1b45e7d28025223ea06c2. Hash it and it matches the commitment
HKDF-SHA256 with the entropy plus the Mars hash as input, salt MARS-MINT-v1 and the frame ID plus capture time as context gives a 32-byte seed
Ed25519 turns that seed into this address:
FtHz3vdrcUqfs7YC3oscsPE34Hf2hTGcYqPtEyq2qycy
Mint and freeze authority are both null on-chain.

$MARS is live. Here's the proof.
Pull HiRISE frame ESP_094000_1735 from NASA's public archive
sha256 the raw image data
Check our pre-launch commitment hash, published before mint
Run HKDF-SHA256 with salt MARS-MINT-v1 and the frame ID plus capture time
You get FtHz3vdrcUqfs7YC3oscsPE34Hf2hTGcYqPtEyq2qycy
