The systems we build also need architectures that preserve human agency, maintain continuity, and make trust a property of the system—not just a hope. I think that's one of the biggest challenges AI still has to solve. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

A future AI partner shouldn't replace human decision-making.

It should strengthen it.

The goal isn't dependence.

The goal is empowerment.

AI should help people think more clearly, remember more effectively, and remain firmly in control of their own lives.

AI memory shouldn't be a black box.

Users should understand:

• What is remembered
• Why it was remembered
• How it is stored
• When it can be removed

Transparency isn't a feature.

It should be a requirement.

Building Project Ocean has taught me that some of the most important problems in AI aren't technical.

They're human.

Ownership.
Trust.
Identity.
Agency.

Technology matters.

But the values we build into technology matter just as much.

Memory without ownership creates dependency.

Ownership without continuity creates fragmentation.

The challenge isn't simply building AI that remembers.

The challenge is building systems that remember while preserving human agency.

That's one of the questions Project Ocean is exploring.

Most discussions about AI focus on intelligence.

I'm increasingly interested in something else:

Trust.

As AI becomes more integrated into daily life, trust may become more important than capability.

Trust requires transparency.
Trust requires consent.
Trust requires user control.

Over the last few years I've become increasingly interested in privacy-first AI, memory ownership, continuity, and user sovereignty.

That interest evolved into Project Ocean, which now has an early working prototype focused on user-controlled memory, continuity, and long-term human–AI interaction.

Project Ocean is currently an independent effort. I'm focused on building a strong foundation and being intentional about who joins the journey.

Most AI can answer questions, but very little of it understands continuity.

That eventually led me to start building Project Ocean.
