Maybe it’s time for an update .. joined the Cornish Diaspora as an exploration geo in Western Australia! Less than 2 weeks since landing in the country I’m lucky to be posted near Kalgoorlie and then near Wiluna 🇦🇺🦘
It’s me! 1:18 🎥
I absolutely love visiting and volunteering at KEM when I can and the School’s Mining Games were no different! If anyone visits Cornwall, make sure you visit the mine’s museum and walk the Great Flat Lode trail ⛏🚶♂️
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Cornwall School Mining Games 2022; the schools, the volunteers & the sponsors! The games were a great success, congratulations to @RichardLanderUK who came 1st, joint 2nd were @BrannelSchool & @SirJamesSmiths and @redruthschool were 3rd!
Enjoyed the @ESEImperial MSci poster day yesterday! Really proud of our year of graduating students and what we’ve achieved over the last year 🌟📚 This will be my last piece of work on volcanoes for a while! 👀⛏🦘
Half way through the Apennines 4th year field-trip 🇮🇹, traversing across the Northern Apennines to better understand the active mountain belt. So far looked at Cretaceous-Jurassic sections 🪨, the K-Pg boundary (rip dinosaurs 🦕) and the Gubbio fault @ESEImperial !
In Italy teaching the @ESEImperial 4th years about the growth and decay of (active!) mountain belts from geological and geophysical observations. A structural geo dreamland ✨⛰
Still so grateful to the RSMA for receipt of the final-year student bursary, as an acknowledgement of commitment and contribution to RSMU & Geol Soc and as a monetary reward.
Congrats again to the other amazing, well deserving winners, @Properjobgeol & others 👏
Article below!
Huge congratulations to five students from @ESEImperial and @ImpMaterials for winning bursaries from the Royal School of Mines Association! 🥳

Soooo I've got some personal news, the sort that has thrilled me beyond measure... 🥳
🚨I'm writing a second book!🚨
Everybody loves a good story about saving the world. HOW TO KILL AN ASTEROID just happens to be the tale of how scientists are preparing to do it for real. ☄️
In the midst of reading Chapter 3: The Great Inkwell from @SquigglyVolcano’s ‘Super Volcanoes’. Ol Doinyo Lengai was brought up and I’m immediately taken back to 2nd year Igneous classes by @rockbloke. Lo and behold … 5 pages in, quotes from the man himself! 🌋
#Etna is not exactly famous for producing pyroclastic flows, though they are pretty common during her violent paroxysmal episodes. Here is a nice little one during the powerful paroxysm on the evening of 10 February 2022.
I'm so excited that I'll get to present my undergraduate research at #LPSC2022 ! Me and @Phliptish mapped a giant volcano on Venus and found evidence of recent geologic activity. My oral presentation will be in-person and on Tuesday 8th, abstract #1893 https://t.co/NO3iDDCSML
Huge thanks to the local organising committee @davidaneave Margaret Hartley @BrendanVolc and everyone at @ManchesterVolc and @EarthSolarSystm for all their hard work ♥ #vVMSG2022
