The call is right. Every umpire that went to a credible school is screaming it myself included.

The issue is this….

This is a gaping hole in the intent of the rule. This is not the intent. We can all see that the fielder caused the disengagement with a legal tag. Meaning no tag, runner doesn’t disengage. So, we don’t want runners getting injured having to make last second decisions rather they should slide or not because they are the only player on the field that didn’t know it was ball 4.

It’s a crazy hole in the rule that the runner is out basically because he decided to slide on ball 4. Would like to see a tweak to a ball 4 scenario in a future rules update it.
