🔴 A reminder that stop lights aren't immune to summer power outages either. 🔴
Drivers, if you come across a traffic signal that is flashing red or isn't working, treat it as a conventional all-way stop.
Every morning, a school bus driver followed the same route and made it a habit to greet the neighborhood dogs along the way. Over the years, the driver had learned which dogs belonged to which homes and even kept a few treats in the bus for the familiar four-legged faces waiting by the roadside.
One afternoon, something seemed off. A friendly dog was spotted wandering nearly five miles from the neighborhood where he normally lived. Instead of heading home, he looked tired, confused, and completely out of place.
The driver pulled the bus over, opened the door, and simply said, “Come on, buddy. Let’s get you home.”
Without any hesitation, the dog climbed aboard as if he knew exactly who to trust. He quietly settled into one of the seats, occasionally peeking over the seatback while the bus rolled through its usual route. The photo captured that moment perfectly—just a calm passenger patiently waiting for his stop.
When the bus finally arrived near his neighborhood, the dog hopped off and happily made his way back home, where his relieved family had been searching for him for hours. Sometimes, getting home only takes one kind person who pays attention. ❤️🐾
So the black family that dine and dashed in Orlando finally paid their check after they got hammered by the entire internet after bragging about it
The establishment asked for an apology, and the people that stole from them made the owners wait on Zoom for 20 minutes. They never showed. The restaurant also didn't press charges, which is wild to me.
This is exactly why you're gonna have to start paying upfront, and this is exactly why it's going to keep happening.
Lack of consequences, and lack of accountability.
Nothing to see here, apparently. Here's Democrat Carissa Kohn-Johnson of Cary explaining why an $802 per month "car allowance" for Town Council members isn't a problem. #ncpol
I saw a post about a UPS driver getting reported for eating lunch in his truck.
Last week, our regular Amazon delivery driver pulled up and asked if she could park in front of our house to cool off.
She wasn’t feeling well the gas fumes in her van were making her sick.
We told her to pull into the shade right away.
Then we invited her into our shop to rest.
We set up a chair right in front of the cooler for her.
She sat down and we handed her a cold bottle of water.
It was such a small thing, but she really needed the break.
There’s nothing wrong with showing basic kindness.
These delivery workers are out there every day in tough conditions.
We’re all in this together.
A little compassion goes a long way.
Everybody give a warm welcome to the newest member of the CMPD family - Azra! 👀🙌 This 1-year-old black lab, is a narcotics detection extraordinaire and the latest addition to our Airport K9 Unit. She has already proven she's more than ready to help keep travelers at @CLTAirport safe, making a huge bust right after being certified! Her expert nose led to the seizure of over 350 pounds of suspected marijuana, valued at more than $700,000.
Welcome to the team, Azra! We're thrilled to have you and can't wait to see more of your amazing work! 🐾✨
It's humid outside in North Carolina. You can tell it's humid because of the way it is. The air is sticky. When the air is sticky, you're sticky. Your shirt is humid, your glasses are humid, your hair is big. Going for a swim and for a walk are practically the same thing.
The main reason it's humid is the water. When you step outside, you breathe in humidity and breathe out even more humidity. The humidity is humidifying.
Mother Nature is giving us a warm, wet hug, even if we did not consent. If you're wondering whether it's humid, the answer is yes. Everything is damp, muggy, clammy, wet, icky sticky, and even moist. You don't cool off because the air has already reached its maximum wetness.
We'll let you know when the air becomes air again.
Big progress in the Pigeon River Gorge.
Crews have placed ~68,000 cu. yds of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), enough to construct about three-quarters of a mile of retaining wall.
That’s about 8% of the total RCC planned for the I-40 recovery project following Hurricane Helene.
