@AvonandsomerRob The reason I do it is because an incredible number of accidents happen in busy car parks due to people reversing out of the bay and not being able to clearly see.
When you arrive you know what's around and can back in safely, leaving an easier forward escape later

Not helped these days by also having to scan the road surface for potholes!
