•It is a 256 acre land, which was jointly administered by India and Sri Lanka until 1974.

•In 1974, Indira Gandhi gifted this island to Sri Lanka.

•Fishermen of both countries used to do fishing there.

•After 1976, Indian fishermen were not allowed to go fishing there.

•In 1991, TN assembly adopted resoulution for the retrieval of Katchatheevu island.

•In 2008, Jayalalitha reached SC against Central saying treaty was unconstitutional.

•Many Indian fisherman get arrested for crossing maritime boundary.

•Now DMK govt writting PM Modi to get it back.

Amit Shah on the Manipur issue in Parliament today:

1) No former Home Minister ever came to Manipur during past riots. He & his MoS Nityanand Rai spent 3 & 23 days respectively to sort out the situation.

2) The clash took place on 3rd May 2023. The central government changed the chief secretary and DGP on 4th May 2023. A Special Advisor from Surat was appointed by the 4th of May itself. 36,000 CAPF personnel deployed using the help of the Indian Air Force.

3) The border between Manipur and Myanmar is fenceless. The work of fencing was first started by the BJP government in 2022 after the influx of Kukis increased from Myanmar. 10 Km of Trial Fencing completed. Work on the next 7 Km is ongoing and 600 Km is under the Survey.
An initiative like this is taken for the first time.

4) From January 2023 registration of Kuki immigrants or infiltrators from Myanmar started by the government. Biometric data was taken and was listed under the negative list for Aadhaar and Voter cards.

5) Influx of Kukis from Myanmar was caused by the crackdown on the Kuki Democratic Front in Myanmar by the ruling Military Junta because the front wanted to restore democracy in Myanmar.

6) Not a single case of curfew, strike, or blockade in 6 years of BJP's rule in the state.

7) The final nail in the coffin was hit by the Manipur High Court when they presented a judgment on the ST status of Meiteis without hearing the government's opinion. This led to the clash on 3rd May.

8) Article 356 was not applied in this case because the state government cooperated on every terms and conditions of the Central Government while dealing with the issue. This is applied when govt is not cooperating.

Today She started her speech in the Parliament about Manipur, and in the very beginning she made it clear that she is not going to talk about Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh or Bengal because she knows that if she opens that page then the no. of atrocities in Bengal will far outweigh Manipur.

She and her party TMC has turned Bengal into a graveyard only for political gains.

They are crying on Manipur only because Manipur is a cover up for them to hide their crimes, nothing more.

Look at this data, the no. of women that went missing in West Bengal far outweighs any other state of our country.

Just search Bengal Post election violence on Google and you'll find tons of reports where people were attacked only because they weren't a staunch follower of Mahua Moitra's Party.

People like her are poison for our country, Nothing more or less than that.
