@VetPathophile Remarkable how much human path can be applied to vet path. Our 10 yo poodle mix had one underneath her chin. Freaked me out cause it grew so fast and ulcerated, I was also very concerned about a MCT. But when I did the smear I saw exactly what you posted, hers regressed in 2 wks
@VetPathophile Gross ddx: mast cell tumor, histiocytoma, plasmacytoma, SCC
Cytology: bland round to oval nuclei and ample cytoplasm without granules
Dx: histiocytoma. Should regress
As a physician I'm sure you've seen patients with ITP!
Let's start by calling it IMMUNE thrombocytopenia instead of IDIOPATHIC thrombocytopenia.
The P stood for Purpura in the past. Not anymore!
T= Thrombocytopenia = <100,000 platelets

"Yesterday I adopted the oldest, sickest, and sorest shelter dog. I'll never forget his eyes.
When I went into the cage he didn't even bother to look, he knew I wouldn't even see him.
Curling around the corner He'd accepted his fate. The volunteer said to me many times...
Are you sure this one? Are you sure? YES! This is my dog.
He opened the cage and 3 animals fell on me.
I ran towards him, suddenly he looked at me as if he saw an angel... I hugged him and told him that now he'll be happy again.
Now he sleeps in my lap... probably the first peaceful sleep he ever had.
Give it a life. Give it a hug. They need us."”

@TheKarenPinto@Janiranavarro Great post to highlight this issue. In my view, anything you want bc there isn’t any guideline(s) that can be objectively followed. I often word it as such “DLBCL/high-grade lymphoma” with a comment stating the differential and that further subclassification requires genetics
1/Please share this thread on behalf of my physician colleague, Eunice Stallman, who is facing the nightmare of her 9mo daughter, Zoey, being diagnosed with brain cancer several weeks ago. @BlueCrossIdaho has added to their anguish by obstructing access to vital treatment.
Great neuromuscular pathology colloquium today. Excellent talk by Prof Bjarne Udd and great neuromuscular pathology cases by Jim Dyck, Karra Jones, Judy Spies, and Suur Biliciler. Great direction by Mari Perez-Rosendahl
@ManniMD1 @AaronGoodman33 @Berninini The bane of every hematopathologist’s existence
👇🏻Hot off the @WHO…. I’ll put this here for now but will come back and comment with my vote later. Don’t want to spoil the fun :)
