@PortsmouthCath@DrDavidPrice@JonathanHFrost@deanportsmouth It was a wonderful service, and how good it coincided with Trinity Sunday. The Jazz Mass from the choir was outstanding, and it’s always moving to sing the C.V. Stanford music to St. Patrick’s Breastplate. And most of all, to pray for all in the city.
@RevRichardColes Maybe get a split-unit air conditioner in the room, as they also have a dedicated dehumidification function? You’ll also have a room you can heat or cool at will too. More expensive investment, but maybe more systemic? Less maintenance (no water to empty) and much quieter too.
@iangovernance Well done for 38 years Ian. And like all the other NHS heroes thank for all you’ve put in, above and beyond, to our care through the NHS x
@HannahBarraclo8 I hear you Hannah. After all the weddings we’ve sat through, peaceably, yet denied to us. All the sermons we’ve sat through, with forbearance, hinting at our unworthiness. After all the stupid calls to repentance in our youth. Sadly, tenderness offends those who can’t fully love.
@MPWRoberts No, you’re mistaken. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The Word did not become ink and dwell on a page. Your ‘ad hominem’ attack betrays you. I wonder what drives your strange animus? God, only, knows.
@SlowToWrite Your position is reductionist. Your argument fallacious. Your control needs are way too high. You have no position to instruct a woman. May God bless Kate, her choices, and the heart wrenching position she is in.
This seems to be a clarification followed, immediately, by the deletion word ‘although’, and then a reference to a meme implying women are emotionally unbalanced. Again. It makes me sad Ben.
I haven’t read enough or thought enough to figure out if I agree with your view or Alice’s view. I do think it’s unfortunate that, given her argument is with an institution, your response is to call her individually ‘hysterical’. That’s a very loaded word.
Alice Roberts is hysterical. She genuinely thinks the CofE is capable of running an “indoctrination programme”. If it were, would we be continually decrying congregant numbers falling off a cliff?
Like, bless, but give it a rest; not all of us want the Honecker-lite state you do.
@JayneOzanne@churchofengland God remain with you @JayneOzanne … thank you for all that you have done. You will be missed, but your contribution has been invaluable.
@RevJonBarrett @ms_piffle Why not just hear the voice @ms_piffle ? Perhaps it’s easier to quibble over the semantics of the word ‘hate’. You don’t get to draw the boundaries of someone else’s experience of persecution.
@AngelaTilby Maybe. Also maybe the arc of this story had to come to this place at some time. Maybe God is too fast and human institutions are too slow.
@catemeehan Oh Cate, I’m so sorry. I had a fire many years ago that wiped me out, so I know how mixed up the emotions and practicalities of life can be after. Do call if I can help, get well soon, lots of love xxx
