In the @1NewsNZ sports universe, apparently the A League and the Wellington Phoenix do not exist. A long segment on northern hemisphere sports tonight with no NZ connection but nothing/nada about the Nix. Looking good for next weekend though @Domestar
@pineynz I agree. There is no room for racism - on the field or off it. And officials must take reports seriously and deal with them. It is good to see the All Whites take a stand. Michael Boxall is a player and person of integrity.
We tend to look out and down rather than in and up when exploring hegemony” — @PSpoonley (@MasseyUni) considers narratives of migration in CA, AUS and NZ and emphasizes the need to introduce decoloniality.

If you are wondering why referees in New Zealand are wearing Blue Armbands today, it’s because they are standing in solidarity with the Australian referee who was viciously assaulted during an amateur game. Love this.! 💙

@SikotiHamiltonR King Ansell appealed his sentence and his prison sentence was changed to a fine. His National Socialist colleague did not appeal and did serve a prison sentence
@NZStuff New Dawn is not the only conspiratorial publication for sale. See Uncensored, similar to New Dawn, which is for sale at some PaperPlus ( see Havelock North PP).
Professor Steve Vertovec launching new Oxford book on Superdiversity at a conference at the University of Birmingham. He is joined by co-editors Fran Meissner and Nando Sigona and several authors. Fifteen years after the term was introduced, it is explored anew
Someone has a sense of the absurd at PaperPlus in Havelock North. The Economist alongside a NZ magazine peddling some of the more puzzling Covid conspiracy myths on offer. The shop assistant was not prepared to discuss why it would sell such a publication.
@kiwistargazer@nztanner@moanatribe The article confuses the point I was making - many of the key components of our duty of care are shaped by notions informed by biculturalism - manaakitanga for - and that we failed in that care when the safety of the Muslim community was not ( and is not) preserved.
The Pearls of the Island Foundation hosted an excellent seminar on hate speech. The seminar was closed by Farid Ahmed who delivered his message that love trumps ( yes, deliberate use of that word) hate. It is a message worth repeating again... and again
@mpimmg@bboudou@dsdora21 @ChrMLang @mmoutselos @samdschmid Great message - especially when there is so much disinformation about critical issues such as migration. Let’s contribute to evidence-based public debate
@mpimmg@uwanews@arc_gov_au@agemig_MPI@dsdora21 The care aspect of online kinning is fascinating. What other functions are sustained in this way for older migrants: religious participation, language or cultural/identity maintenance?
Exploring stories at the Academy of Military Culture in Beijing with Humanities and Social Science colleagues, the VC and Richard Taylor. What stories are told and who tells them? And how can stories contribute to understanding and change, especially for a group like the homeless?
A celebration of our Massey Pasifika students. Future leaders and innovators in Aotearoa and other parts of the Pacific. With almost half of all Pasifika in NZ under 20 yrs of age, education is the key to the future success for all of us. Go Tali and Maatusi
The top planning students from Massey are given the PNCC prizes from Tangi Utikere and Sheryl Bryant. The relationship and prizes have been going for 30 years. April Bennett’s wero to the students was to have the courage to cast a new net. I agree!!!
