Hey guys. Relatively new to this community. I have been off of Zoloft for one year now and only took it for 5 months. Since then I have suffered severe emotional and genital anesthesia (PSSD). Hope I can help spread awareness so all of us sufferers can get our lives back one day
The fact that the very intervention (SSRIs) meant to support my mental health has now become the primary obstacle to me living fully is a profound betrayal. The lack of effort, research urgency, or even acknowledgment of PSSD consistently adds insult to this injury.

Drs: “Don’t take drugs, they’re bad for you!”
“Don’t smoke, it’s bad for you!”
“Don’t drink alcohol, it’s bad for you!”
“Don’t eat fast food, it’s bad for you!”
Also Drs: “Here’s some SSRI’s that can lobotomise you and chemically castrate you, they’re safe and effective.” #PSSD
It’s torture remembering what it was like the days before getting PSSD. Full of emotions, pleasure, high sex drive, etc. I was simply taking them to lower my moderate generalized anxiety disorder.
If I only I knew I would end up with the most devastating condition imaginable
Do not take SSRIs. You play Russian roulette with them.
Some get terrible withdrawal when trying to stop them. And some get Post SSRI Syndrome, which is a condition that is characterized by the numbing of many body parts, including emotions and sexuality.
I only took some few doses, 2 years ago, and I still suffer from numbness in all the body, cognitive symptoms, sexual dysfunction, and emotional numbness.
I have seen 0 improvement, and currently there is no treatment, nor explanation, as to how and why this happens.
Probably the most powerful story I have heard. She is VERY brave. Wow. WELL DONE GIRL. And yeah, there's a road back. The plasticity of the brain is remarkable. @woodymatters
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything so horrific as what this beautiful young lady is describing here after taking Zoloft.
This is indeed a crime against her and humanity.
And Big pHARMa knew this was a possible and IRREVERSIBLE outcome of taking this drug.
Absolutely horrific.
“It’s like a sudden-onset chemical asexuality that just never goes away, and in my opinion, I don’t think that it’s sensational to say that this is a form of chemical castration, that it is permanent.”
Lauren Friedman (@lololizzle) discusses PSSD at a @MAHA_Institute summit.
Thank you to the brave @lololizzle for having the courage to speak at the MAHA Summit on behalf of the tens of thousands of people whose lives have been stolen from them. This is a HUGE step in the right direction! #PSSD#SSRI

“You can't sit in this meeting for the last two and a half days and deny the post-drug syndromes. There is such clear evidence that there is a physiologic thing going on, and it infuriates me when I hear the patient-blame side of this.”
@KennethMPeters1 on post-drug syndromes.
“SSRIs don’t chemically castrate people after discontinuing”
Just because they didn’t chemically castrate anyone in the “trials” doesn’t mean that it can’t happen.
In fact, it is far more common than u think.
Google “PSSD”. We need a cure.

I had the honor of listening to Dr. Will Powers speak at the PSSD, PFS, and PAS conference last week. Just hearing his thoughts on potential genetic differences in people who develop these conditions really drives home how complex the human body is.
I’m telling you, anyone who defaults to labeling this harm as psychosomatic or “nocebo” isn’t interested in having a genuine conversation about what’s actually going on. Take that kind of dismissal with a grain of salt. You can’t reduce something this complex to a recycled talking point.
Thank you to all who attended the PFS/PAS/PSSD conference this past week!
The thousands of humans left emotionless and soulless after stopping these medications thank you!
This gives us hope that one day we can get our lives back ❤️

I want to thank the incredible clinicians, scientists and patient advocates who traveled from around the globe to attend the first World congress on PSSD, PFS, and PAS. This group is committed to finding solutions. See video. @BeaumontUrology

“It causes seemingly permanent genital numbness and anhedonia, so emotional numbness. It makes people suicidal because they can’t feel anything. And that can happen from short-term use, to some people.”
