HOW TO PRAY USING SCRIPTURES

Praying using scriptures is the perfect way to know you are praying the will of God. When you don't know how to pray, open the Bible and use the scriptures. Let your prayer requests be accompanied with scriptures. You can write them down before you enter the place of prayer and use them.

Many believers struggle in prayer because they think prayer is about finding the right words. But prayer is not about impressive words; it is about agreement with God's Word. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:11 that God's Word will not return to Him void. When you pray scriptures, you are reminding yourself of God's promises and standing on what He has already said concerning your life.

Praying scriptures strengthens your faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Instead of praying based on your feelings, fears, or circumstances, you begin to pray based on God's truth. Circumstances may change, but God's Word remains forever.

For example, if you need wisdom, don't simply say, "Lord, give me wisdom." Take the scripture and pray it:

"Father, Your Word says in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives generously without finding fault. Lord, I ask for wisdom concerning this situation. Guide my decisions and direct my steps in Jesus' name."

If you are praying for provision, use Philippians 4:19:

"Father, Your Word says that You shall supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I stand upon this promise today. I declare that every need in my life shall be met according to Your Word."

If you are battling fear, use Isaiah 41:10:

"Lord, You said I should not fear because You are with me. You said You will strengthen me, help me, and uphold me with Your righteous right hand. Today I reject fear and embrace Your peace."

If you need healing, pray with Isaiah 53:5:

"Father, Your Word says that by His stripes we are healed. I receive healing over my body. Let every sickness, pain, and affliction leave in the name of Jesus."

If you desire protection, use Psalm 91:

"Lord, Your Word says that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Protect me and my family from every evil attack, danger, and accident."

If you are trusting God for direction, pray Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Father, I choose to trust in You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. As I acknowledge You in all my ways, direct my paths according to Your promise."

If you need strength during difficult times, pray Isaiah 40:31:

"Lord, Your Word says those who wait upon You shall renew their strength. Renew my strength today. Help me to run and not grow weary, to walk and not faint."

Even when praying for your children, marriage, ministry, business, or future, find scriptures that relate to those areas and turn them into prayer points. The more you pray God's Word, the more confidence you have in prayer because you know you are praying according to His will.

A practical way to do this is to keep a prayer journal. Divide it into categories such as healing, protection, finances, family, spiritual growth, favor, and breakthrough. Under each category, write relevant scriptures. Whenever you pray, read the scripture first and then turn it into a personal prayer.

Jesus Himself used scripture. The apostles used scripture. The early church stood upon scripture. God's Word is the foundation of effective prayer.

The next time you enter your prayer closet and don't know what to say, don't be discouraged. Open your Bible. Read a promise. Speak it back to God. Pray His Word. Declare His Word. Stand upon His Word.

Remember, prayers based on God's Word carry confidence because they are rooted in God's promises. When you pray scriptures, you are not merely expressing your desires; you are agreeing with what God has already spoken.

Pray the Word, believe the Word, and watch God fulfill His Word in your life.

🏟️| Government plans 20,000-seater upgrade for Kyabazinga Stadium in Jinja

The government has unveiled plans to transform Kyabazinga Stadium, commonly known as Bugembe Stadium, into a modern sports complex with a seating capacity of 20,000.

The redevelopment is part of a nationwide programme led by the National Council of Sports aimed at improving sports facilities across Uganda.

Officials say the project will modernise the stadium and expand sporting opportunities for athletes in the Busoga sub-region and the wider eastern part of the country.

What the new stadium will include

According to Milton Chebet, Assistant General Secretary for Technical Affairs at the National Council of Sports, the planned redevelopment will convert the current facility into a multi-sport complex.

The project is expected to feature a 20,000-seat main stadium, training grounds for athletes, an athletics running track, and an indoor sports arena designed to host games such as boxing and basketball.

Chebet explained that Bugembe Stadium and Mbale Stadium have been prioritised as key projects for Eastern Uganda, with construction expected to begin in a later phase of the national sports infrastructure programme.

Land concerns raised

However, officials say the project could face challenges due to suspected encroachment on part of the land surrounding the stadium.

Chebet noted that some individuals have reportedly built permanent houses on sections of the land meant for the sports complex, raising concerns about whether the full redevelopment plan can be implemented as designed.

It is still unclear whether the government will compensate the occupants if the land needs to be reclaimed for the project.

A key facility in Busoga

Kyabazinga Stadium, which belongs to the Busoga Kingdom, is one of the major sports venues in Eastern Uganda.

Over the years, the stadium has hosted regional football matches and several community sporting events, making it an important facility for sports development in the region.

What happens when a person dies? Do they go immediately to heaven or hell? Or does the Bible describe something different?

Pure BIBLE. Just the BIBLE.

First, how does the Bible define death?

Genesis 2:7 says:

“The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.”

Pay close attention the formula. I have numbered it, for ease of reference:

1. Dust of the ground.
2. Breath of life from God.
Results in a living soul.

A soul is not something that is inserted into a body. A soul is the result of breath plus body.

Look at what the BIBLE says happens at death.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 says, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

Look at the reverse order. Numbered again for ease of reference:

1. The body returns to dust.
2. The breath returns to God.

It is the same two elements separate. Here is something important, do not miss it:

The verse does not say a thinking, conscious person flies to heaven. It says the breath returns to God. The Hebrew word for spirit here is ruach. Ruach means breath, wind, or life force.

The life that God gave goes back to Him, and this is true for all living things.

Now let us ask and answer the next question. What condition are the dead in?

Go to Ecclesiastes 9:5. Ecclesiastes 9:5 says this:

“The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything.”

That is very direct. Itnis very clear and very easy to follow, if one wants to see it, that it.

It says, the dead knows nothing. Again: the dead knows nothing. The dead knows nothing. A final time: the dead knows nothing.

Then the verse continues. It says:

“Neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.”

Look at verse 6.

“Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished.”

Their emotions, their feelings if you will, are gone. Verse 10 of the same passage, and we are still in Ecclesiastes Chapter 9, continues with the same thought. It says:

“There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave.”

Think carefully about what that means. It means there is no knowledge, no thinking and no activity, whatsoever.

That is not describing people celebrating in heaven or burning in hell. That is describing complete unconsciousness.

The Bible repeatedly calls death “sleep.” Look at John 11:11. Jesus says:

“Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may wake him.”

The disciples misunderstood what Jesus was saying. Verse 13 explains:

“Howbeit Jesus spoke of his death.”

Jesus used sleep as the description of death. Then when Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead four days. If Lazarus had gone to heaven, calling him back would have been cruel. But Jesus spoke of him as sleeping. Because that is exactly how the Bible describes death.

Now listen to what Jesus said when He raised Jairus’ daughter. In Mark 5:39 Jesus said: “The child is not dead, but sleeping.”

Again the same words, same description. He described death as sleep. Sleep is unconscious rest until awakening.

David gives another clear statement. Go to Psalm 146:4. David said: “His breath goes forth, he returns to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.”

The day a person dies, David said three things happen:

1. Their breath leaves.
2. They return to dust.
3. Their thoughts perish.

If thoughts perish [dies], the person is not thinking in heaven or hell. The Bible could not be clearer.

Do the dead praise God in heaven? Listen to Psalm 115:17:

“The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.”

Wait, what? Let me repeat that:

“The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.”

It says right there in black and white that the dead do not praise God.

But notice that the book of Revelation shows the redeemed in heaven praising God constantly. Therefore the dead cannot already be there, because the Bible says they do not praise.

The resurrection is when life returns.

Look at 1 Thessalonians 4:16. It reads:

“The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven… and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”

Pay close attention to the timing and the order.

1. The dead do not rise immediately at death.
2. They rise when Christ returns.

Then verse 17 continues:

“Then we which are alive… shall be caught up together with them.”

This is when believers receive immortality. Paul doubles down on the same order in 1 Corinthians 15:52. Paul said:

“At the last trumpet… the dead shall be raised.”

I repeat two more times:

“At the last trumpet… the dead shall be raised.”

“At the last trumpet… the dead shall be raised.”

Not at death but at the resurrection. Jesus Himself said the same thing and who would know better than He:

“The hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth” [John 5:28–29].

Where are they? In the graves. They are not in heaven, and they are not in hell. They are in the graves until the resurrection.

The Bible gives the same sequence everywhere. Numbered again, for ease of reference:

1. A person dies.
2. The body returns to dust.
3. The breath returns to God.
4. Thoughts cease.
5. The dead sleep in the grave.
6. They rise at the resurrection when Christ returns.

David died about 1000 years before Christ. But listen to what Peter said after the resurrection of Jesus. In Acts 2:29 Peter said:

“Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.”

Then Peter made it even clearer, in Acts 2:34. He said:

“For David is not ascended into the heavens.”

I think I need to say that again for emphasis. Peter said:

“For David is not ascended into the heavens.”

Have you considered the implications nor what Peter said? Think about that a moment. Several moments, if need be. A thousand years after David died, Peter says David has not gone to heaven. David is still in his grave, but you think Granny Iris and Grandpa Jonathan are there?

The Bible does not stutter. The Bible is consistent. The order is the same in Genesis, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, The Gospels and in Paul’s letters. The testimony is consistent.

We must study the Scriptures for ourselves and stop leaving our soul salvation to those preachers who themselves are confused. We must learn to think!

If the dead were already in heaven or hell, the resurrection would make no sense. Why resurrect someone who is already in their reward? But the Bible says the reward is given when Christ returns.

Revelation 22:12 spells it out so clearly a caveman can get it:

“My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”

That means the reward is not given at death. That means reward is given when Jesus comes.

The conclusion from Scripture could not be clearer, even if it was written in hieroglyphics.

1..The dead are not watching us.
2. They are not suffering in hell.
3. They are not praising in heaven.

The dead are resting in their graves. Sleeping, awaiting the voice of Christ, and when He calls, the graves will open, and the dead will rise. That is the consistent teaching of Scripture.

And Before someone brings up the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16, it is a parable. It is not a literal event. If it is taken literally, that would mean heaven and hell are close enough for conversation, that people in hell can have calm conversations with Abraham, and a drop of water on a fingertip can cool someone burning in fire. Which would be impossible.

Jesus was teaching a lesson, not describing the state of the dead. And Luke tells us what the lesson is Chapter 16 Verse 31. It says:

“If they hear not Moses and the prophets…”

The point is about listening to Scripture.

Hell was never created because God became angry and decided to stop loving humanity. That idea completely misunderstands God’s nature. Hell was created for Satan and his demons, it is their kingdom and their eternal dwelling place. Jesus Himself said that hell was prepared for “the devil and his angels.” It was never designed for human beings. From the beginning, God’s desire was for mankind to live with Him, rule with Him, and enjoy a deep, loving relationship with Him.

When God created Adam, He gave him dominion, authority, and intimacy with Himself. Adam walked with God without fear, shame, or separation. But when Adam rebelled and chose disobedience, sin entered into the world. Through that one act, humanity lost the dominion we once had and the relationship we once enjoyed with God. More than that, sin became our nature. We were no longer just people who sinned; we became people with a sinful nature. And that nature was no longer aligned with God, it became aligned with Satan.

Every nature belongs to a kingdom. God’s holy nature belongs to the Kingdom of God. Satan’s fallen nature belongs to the kingdom of darkness. When sin became our nature, we became connected to a kingdom that could not coexist with God’s kingdom. Hell is not simply a place of punishment, it is the kingdom that corresponds to Satan’s nature. And because God is holy, nothing sinful can dwell in His presence. This is not because God is cruel, but because holiness and corruption cannot mix.

Instead of abandoning humanity, God made a way of rescue. He did not lower His standard of holiness, and He did not destroy mankind. Instead, He designed a plan that would restore us completely. That plan was not religion, rules, or human effort. The plan was redemption. God Himself chose to step into His own creation. He took on human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus lived the life we could not live, free from sin, and then willingly died the death we deserved.

On the cross, Jesus took our sin, our fallen nature, and the judgment that belonged to it. In exchange, He offers us His own nature, His righteousness, His life, and His relationship with the Father. Salvation is not just about escaping hell, it is about receiving a new nature that can dwell in God’s kingdom. This is why the gospel is not merely a message of forgiveness, but a message of transformation.

The love of God is clearly revealed in this plan. No loving God would go to such lengths if He did not deeply desire humanity. God did not send an angel, He came Himself. He did not demand that we climb up to Him, He came down to us. That is love in its purest form.

Now, the response God asks for is simple: belief. To believe in Jesus is to trust in what He has already done. Salvation is a gift, not a reward. But God never forces anyone to accept this gift. He respects human freedom because love that is forced is not love at all.

When a person rejects Jesus, God is not rejecting them. They are rejecting God’s offer to belong to His kingdom. There are only two kingdoms, there is no neutral ground. There is the Kingdom of God, where light, life, and truth dwell, and there is the kingdom of darkness, where Satan reigns. To reject God’s offer is to choose separation from Him, even if that choice is made unknowingly.

God honors human choice. If someone insists on living apart from Him, He allows that decision to stand. Hell, in this sense, is not God pushing people away, it is God allowing people to remain where they have chosen to be. Yet even in this, God’s love does not change. His love is stable, faithful, and unending. God never stops loving anyone, not in this life, and not in eternity.

Separation from God is not the absence of His love, it is the result of rejecting His presence. God’s judgment is not rooted in hatred, but in justice and respect for human freedom. The cross stands as eternal proof that God did everything possible to bring humanity back to Himself without violating His own holiness or our free will.

In the end, hell does not exist because God stopped loving us. Hell exists because God is holy, because Satan rebelled. The door to God’s kingdom remains open through Jesus Christ. Whoever believes receives new life, a new nature, and eternal fellowship with God. And this invitation is the greatest demonstration of God’s unchanging love for humanity.

LIVING IN A CONQUERED WORLD

John 16:33 (NKJV): "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Some Christians live as though the world and life are a battlefield and the victory is uncertain, like they are fighting to win a war whose result has not yet been decided. But the truth is, Jesus already conquered the world, like our theme scripture reveals.

The Lord did not say, “I will overcome the world,” He said, “I have.” Past tense. Done. Finished. That changed everything for us as believers.

Living as a Christian doesn't mean you're fighting for victory; it means you're already walking in the triumph that Jesus secured. We are called "more than conquerors" because a conqueror must fight to win, but we simply inherit the benefits of a battle already won on our behalf. Our role is to live in the peace of His completed work.

You do not fight for healing; you live as one who is already healed because by His stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24). You do not battle poverty, you live as a rich one who knows that in this great exchange, Jesus became poor that you may be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).

Face life knowing you are starting from victory, not trying to get to it. You may still go through hard times, but the beauty in all this is that the end is already in your favour.

Never live like a struggler in a world Jesus already conquered. Live boldly, walk in peace, and trust that the victory is already yours.

PRAYER: My Loving Father, I thank You for the great victory that I have in Jesus. I live every day knowing that You have already overcome the world. I do not fight for what You have already given me but instead receive and embrace it. I choose to trust You, walk in confidence, and live like a winner because of You. Amen.
