Paraphrasing Amy Arnsten: AMPARs—great for accurate timing, but you want NMDARs (w/ nicotinic alpha 7R, Calbindin in cell body) to keep something going (AKA DLPFC Layer 3). Great system to be able to pull cognition off line, but also allows it to break, esp. with inflammation
