@ctmwright @JSchapiro_SBR @douglevy@JeffPassan I think 5.05b3 pertains to catchers interference calls tho... This must just come from the umpires manual?
Another great start for @Folty25 tonight for the @Braves. I took a look at how he's improved so much this season, over at @OFRSports. Check it out. https://t.co/Y3Yfq3XkMe
Ahead of @Folty25's Saturday start for the @braves, explore how he has taken a big step forward this year, via numbers and graphics. And words, but meh. For Outfield Fly Rule @OFRSports https://t.co/Y3Yfq3XkMe
Not long ago, we wondered if @Folty25 would make it as a starter. Now, he seems a favorite to be the @Braves Game 1 Postseason Starter. How did this happen so fast? Click to enjoy a bunch of GIFs and graphics and find out. https://t.co/Y3Yfq3XkMe
@FourFourHipHop@Jervass But mlb needs to come up with a sensible consequence for pace violations and have them enforced uniformly, or drop the rule, in my humble opinion
#Braves announcers kept coming back to the umpires allowing a reliever warmup tosses after the clock expired. A simple google search and skim reveals an explanation. It's not like this is their jobs or anything (h/t @Jervass )
@FourFourHipHop@Jervass don't think the "to prevent injury" clause will come up much. In the case tonight, a pitcher was clearly going to be subjected to something unsafe bc of a dumb thing someone else did. That's probably the point of that aspect of the rule.
@FourFourHipHop@Jervass I actually think the catch rule is an example of the NFL doing what MLB will not, in painstakingly making concrete definitions of a hard to define thing. Baseball always allows grey areas, and for inconsistent and subjective enforcement of rules by umpires.
It must have been tough to take the blame for not having a pitcher up in the pen before calling for him, and also making a postseason prediction for the team that you yourself manage. https://t.co/rHLCVASh7X
Kapler took full responsibility for communication snafu between dugout and bullpen. He said he needed to do a better job. He also said Phillies would make postseason in 2018.
Ryan Flaherty spent the spring with the Phillies and did not make roster due to a numbers crunch. He is now with Atlanta and has six hits, including three doubles, and three runs scored in first three games.
