@Joeyrandomguy@estherzelda0514 The only reason they miss the Mitt Romney Republicans is because they were totally ineffective at putting up a fight. Romney exists as a hypothetical president with potential policies and possible respectability. Had he won, they would call him a fascist war criminal.
@JennMGreenberg Turkish Delight will be replaced with Gushers. The Blitz is replaced entirely by news coverage of 9-11 while cautiously avoiding talking about anything political.
@JennMGreenberg You're correct about all of this outside of the assumption that TLWatW will be played straight. It will be about four kids from New York City who are stuck while visiting their uncle in rural England during their parents divorce because their planes are grounded after 9/11.
@LiquidBananas@CrustDominos@lucam8a She’s also pretty obviously a fraudster, the type only the ultra rich, over educated, societally insulated elite could fall for. The case is actually pretty fascinating, if only because nobody should’ve believed her from the jump.
When the fuck did McDonalds get so loud and annoying? It’s like every appliance in there has its own speaker that beeps all the time. It’s like stepping into a Harrison Bergeron character’s mind. Why is nobody talking about this?
It’s actually very normal to reach a certain age and want more than fairy tale black and white morality from stories.
It’s really fucking weird that so many people want to bring grey morality into fairy tales. If you want a “mature” story grow up and read something for adults.
Executive producer and head writer Sehaj Sethi discusses her deliberate storytelling approach for Avatar: Seven Havens.
"I think what I really wanted to bring to this was this idea that there's so much gray area to everything, to every storyline, to everything that you see.
I remember telling them in the first meeting, 'I want people to finish an episode and look at each other and argue two different sides. Like, hey, this is why I believe this person is right,' and the other person can be like, 'No, you're wrong. This is why I believe entirely a different thing.'
There's no villains in this story. There are protagonists and antagonists. Everyone has a side, everyone has a point of view. And I wanted to show the complexity of different ways of looking at things. Especially in a world that's completely recreated."
The New York AG race is incredible. The incumbent is 7 feet tall and drunkenly slurring out that you don’t need to read a bill to pass it. An Indian woman is doing her best Peter Falk doing Columbo impression and talking about baby books. There’s even a sign language interpreter.
@sisyphusmyths@bhangbhangducx The only issue is that the rest of the show frames the Guardians as being corrupt cops. By the way they’re depicted, it’s perfectly plausible that not only was Sinestro in the right in whatever offscreen conflict occurred but also that John should agree with it.
So you're telling me Noah/Manhunter has miracle blood, can raise the dead, and "wants to do good" in a world that has already accepted the existence of superheroes and instead he wants to become president and rule the world via a football scholarship to a state school? #Lanterns
@blkcomictwit It's bizarre because this would have happened whether or not he came to Rushville. The unnamed alien stooges were going to roll into town and self destruct anyway. He literally did nothing wrong.
Also the the town never cleaned up that water tower wreckage for a decade. Ew.
My final review of Lanterns:
A show that spends time building up to absolutely nothing, Lanterns delivers only broken promises. The excellent acting and line delivery is only a shiny coat over a car with no wheels. I wish it mattered
Real talk, shows/games/movies “exploring generational trauma” is a legitimate thought virus. Almost none of them are actually merited as good. They all rely on the audience assuming the writer is working through some shit and deserves a pity win.
@BlueMonkey19 They don’t even try to investigate who firebombed Hal’s house. He’s continually victimized throughout the narrative with no restitution yet the show keeps insisting that he’s a bad guy.
Dude seriously though if Clayface bombs that’ll be 4 projects in a row that suffer from bad structural plotting in a total of 6, and Creature Commandos didn’t even do that well either. What happened to “great scripts first”?
