#UE5 trick: Inspired by the old Gears5 shadow trick, I figured you could abuse the new Overlay slot to give Translucent objects shadows! Your translucent material goes in the overlay slot, and a shadow-only instance (with blend mode force to Masked) of it in the base slot!
Good friend showed me this game and i played through it with him. Later i took a nap and i dreamt of fantastic concrete buildings and beautiful, impossible tall buildings.
I've played this mostly static game for abt 80 mins and it was enough to deeply move me. Even when sleeping.

Yes, still working on this. The devil lies in the details & Grass LOD is super hard! Started working on breakdown video part1. Audio is done! ~35min video incoming
#UE5 You can use a ShadowPass node to render plain opaque meshes during shadow pass for your distant LOD material and increase shadow coverage at a distance and thus increase perceived grass density (and skip a texture sampler!)

I was once again astonished by the cost of using a scene capture comp (~1ms😡) and I had a gut feeling a better solution was out there... Yes, turns out building a custom particle syst & renderer using Niagara Array & Grid 2D interfaces did the trick (~0.05ms🤯)
