Being responsible in the other situations can help the dark alley situation, or getting too drunk at a party situation. They can be prevented, and if people could see that, some would be prevented at least.

Not in every case of course, but people put themselves in dangerous situations all the time, that simply could have been avoided if they made better decisions.
