Catherine, Princess of Wales, was resplendent in a distinguished three-feather brooch, surmounted by a coronet at its heart, the emblematic badge of the Prince of Wales, when she received President Donald Trump and the First Lady, Melania.

This storied jewel possesses a lineage of great antiquity within the Royal Family. Bestowed upon Queen Alexandra in 1863 by her consort, King Edward VII, whilst she yet bore the title Princess of Wales, it has ever since been regarded as a jewel of singular distinction.

The piece is composed of eighteen brilliant-cut diamonds, finely encircled by diminutive emeralds, from which is suspended a detachable cabochon emerald pendant. It bears the proud motto “Ich Dien”, German for “I serve”, an inscription long entwined with the dignity of the Princes of Wales.

Upon Queen Alexandra’s passing, the brooch descended to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. In 1981, it was presented to Lady Diana Spencer in honour of her betrothal to the Prince of Wales, and she first unveiled it suspended from the diamond tennis necklace of the Saudi Sapphire Suite.

Prior to Catherine’s tenure, however, the jewel was worn by Queen Camilla, who brought it forth at the premiere of The History Boys at the Odeon cinema in 2006.

The overwhelming negativity and constant trashing of Prince William by the media is truly heartbreaking at this point.

The way that idiot and the woman he married, along with their loudest cheerleaders, keep spreading the lie that William schemes with the press to drag them down, while all evidence shows the opposite and yet William is still the one taking the blame, is both infuriating and painful to watch. Every single time, and I repeat every single time, that duo chases glowing coverage or another spotlight, it is always William who ends up bloodied by the duo’s and his father’s favored media allies and swarmed by paid online trolls. Never once have we seen him truly celebrated the way they are for his charity work or dedication, and even on the rare occasion he is praised, we have never seen the media, gossip influencers, or headlines tear the others down just to lift him up. So tell me, how does someone who supposedly schemes with the press always receive negative coverage and so little recognition for his body of work, while the ones who claim they do not scheme are showered with sunshine and sugary articles for merely existing?

Have we ever seen a single segment trashing that idiot just to prove that William is better? Have we ever seen a columnist twist a story to blame him for something he was never even part of, just to create sympathy for William? Have we ever heard reporters screaming “We love you, William” or “You brought the sunshine” as he walks by? All of this trashing and bullying has been aimed at William since the moment BP’s communications team and the duo’s communications team held their not-so-secret secretive meeting to share their diaries and rehabilitate their favorite darling boy, yet we are expected to believe it is William who schemes with the press. This is the painful difference between those who pretend they do not play games with the media while plotting every move to pull someone down and someone who quietly refuses to tear others apart for his own gain.

Through it all, William bears the weight of duty with steady grace, sacrificing recognition and comfort to protect the values he upholds. So if people call him mean, rude, a problem, a bad guy, boring, or jealous, let those insults stand as a badge of honor for his refusal to work with the press, to give them access to his life, and to bend to their demands. And that is why, no matter how vicious the noise becomes, his dignity will always outshine their chaos.

• Provided funding for Spiral Skills to support their community-led approach in tackling youth homelessness.

• Launched a partnership with Jac Lewis Foundation and the WRU to establish a pioneering new mental health hub that will provide access to professional wellbeing and mental health services to hundreds of people who may be at risk of suicide.

Who has set the hounds on them? Well, it doesn't take a genius to work that out, does it?
William won't play the games that the press wants him to. They both deal with their critics with grace, dignity, beautiful smiles and just getting on with their jobs and a massive stony silence.

Honestly, the absolute crap this man has endured all his life, dysfunctional parents who consistently placed their own agendas above his mental health.

A brother who dragged him through the dirt in interviews, documentaries and books, with not one care about his mental health.

A wife diagnosed with cancer, with horrific rumours being spread about her then and now, with not on care about his mental health.

And the trauma of walking behind his mother’s coffin and the enduring trauma of that, and once again, not one care about this man’s mental health.

We hope Prince William knows that the public can see through what the King and the wayward Prince is doing. We hope he knows the public stands with him, and unlike some commentators - we don’t forget the abuse William has suffered from the people who were supposed to love and protect him.

God, at least Princess Catherine, the late Queen and, despite mistakes, Diana had her son’s back.
