@Jenny_1884 I voted Labour from 2005 to 2010. Was actually a fully paid up member of the labour party in my youth. Went canvassing with my dad as a kid in the 1997 GE. Then Tory from 2015 to 2019. They have both failed time and again and hold us in complete contempt.
I donโt know about anyone else but I always always voted for the Conservatives but when you look back they have obviously been part of the destruction of the UK because it goes back to at least Tony Blair.
I would never trust the Conservatives ever again.
They are finished.
@discostoo@imlirvingit Wrong. Wealth is concentrated in less and less hands. Simply rewind only back to the pre-war period and you had far far more inequality. The middle class exploded after the Thatcher reforms in the 80s. Owning any kind of land or property used to be a pipe dream for most now
@Steven_Swinford Were they being drama queens because they were sick and tired of the overruling of policy, backtracking and failures by those above them though? Challenge is healthy. Groupthink is not. Most effective risk committees in business are controlled arguments.
@MichelleDewbs This is the thing for me: i won't even listen to these speeches by tories any more. I'd just find myself going: "bollocks", "crap", "lies", "yawn", "heard it all before". Different person, same rosette, same words, 14 years of doing the opposite carrying more weight...
@Peston of support accepts that only a vote for Reform is going to get rid of Labour as majority of those now voting Reform are not coming back. Then the switching accelerates again and the branch snaps and they're dead.
@Peston established a "base" and i don't think they'll fall below that base without an attempt at power. Because for those voters the tories have had numerous chances. So they're hanging there pleased that they're not dead until the inevitable tipping point comes where remaining rump
@shookzie@Adumbrater@swardley All true. Taxation is a control lever rather than a means of raising money. You lower taxation to put more money into the economy and you raise it to take it out. Taxation is so high from a policy perspective due to significant inflationary pressures
@Adumbrater@swardley The reason wealth taxes don't work is that the value of someone's wealth is subjective. Income isn't subjective. Capital gains isn't subjective, profits aren't subjective. You can't effectively tax something that can't easily be quantified. And if you want to try you better
@christopherhope@GBNEWS Hahahahahahahahahahahaha...f*ck me! "Yeah, i know you stopped voting for us because we utterly f*cked the country and took the utter p*ss over 14 years, but come back, don't vote for that party that has never had a chance in power, we are coming for you and you need to give us
