I bid a tearful farewell to my beloved mother, Smt. Chennamma Devegowda avaru.
She was the quiet strength behind our family, the embodiment of unconditional love, sacrifice and unwavering values. Every lesson she taught us, every blessing she bestowed and every prayer she offered will remain my guiding light for the rest of my life.
The void left by her passing can never be filled, but her memories will continue to live in my heart and inspire me in every step of my journey.
I pray that the Almighty grants eternal peace to her noble soul.
Om Shanti. 🙏
Chennamma Deve Gowda, wife of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, has passed away. She was 89. A marriage of over 72 years comes to an end. Chennamma was Gowda’s true strength — she stood by him through every high and low.
A villager at heart, she remained firmly rooted in Hassan’s soil and culture. Warm, hospitable, and easy to talk to. Hope Gowdru finds the strength to bear this profound personal loss.
May her soul rest in peace.
🚨😁 Marc Cucurella: “If we win, I will get a tattoo of De La Fuente’s face on my body and I will announce my retirement from international football”.
“World Cup, Euros… what else you can do? From Monday I’d call him and tell him I’d leave it all”. 🇪🇸
RIP Sir Garfield Sobers.🙏🫡
Inarguably cricket's greatest-ever all-rounder.♥️
- Possessing one of the most ferocious and definitive back-foot cut shots the game has ever seen.🔥
Sir Gary Sobers played a three-day match at the historic Central College Ground, Bengaluru, in January 1959, when the touring West Indies took on South Zone. It wasn’t a memorable outing for the great man — he managed just 7 and 28 in the two innings. Mysore captain Gopalaswamy Kasturirangan had dismissed him for 7 in the first innings.
🇪🇸❤️ Marc Cucurella's biggest decision this summer wasn't about football.
Before saying yes to Real Madrid, he didn't ask about his salary, the training ground or the facilities.
His first question was whether Madrid had the right schools, therapists and specialists for his eldest son, who has been diagnosed with autism. ❤️
The Spanish full-back has revealed that every bit of progress his son makes means more to him than any trophy. And when choosing his next club, there's only one thing that truly matters:
🗣️ "If a team is interested in me, the first thing I do is check whether there are schools or therapies for him."
👏 He might be on the verge of winning the EUROs and World Cup back to back for his country but football will always come second. Being there for his son will always be Marc Cucurella's greatest achievement.
A classic shot of Garry Sobers during his 163* England v West Indies, Lord's, June 20th, 1966. With West Indies only nine ahead with five second-innings wickets remaining, Sobers and his cousin, David Holford (105*) added 274 runs to save the match. The partnership set up a chance of a West Indies win on the final day. England, set 284 in four hours, were wobbling on 67 for 4 before rain and a brilliant Colin Milburn hundred got them off the hook as the match ended in a draw
Sir Garry Sobers was unquestionably the greatest all-round talent cricket has seen. From averaging 57 with the bat in Tests, to bowling left-arm fast medium, wrist spin, or slow left-arm, he had every skill. Add in his captaincy & hitting six sixes in an over, he was remarkable.
Like many others, my heart is heavy at the passing of the great Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers. He was always generous with his time and advice to me. He elevated Barbados and the West Indian Islands to a place of great and unprecedented standing in the world through his performance and leadership on the field. Sad he is no longer with us, but very happy that he came. We have memories of him than stand this game in good stead. RIP😥
Cricket's greatest-ever all-rounder, and an iconic figure in Nottinghamshire history.
We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Garfield Sobers.
