Let’s put Infantino’s World Cup sales pitch in context.
• 11 days ago FIFA said it expected its 2023-26 revenues to ‘top $15billion’
• FIFA is currently promising to return $8m to each of 211 member associations over the next 4 years. A total of $1.688billion, or ~11%
• If the member associations agree to Infantino selling the World Cup to the Trump mafia and others, Infantino will increase the payout to $20m each. A total of $4.22bn over the next four years, or ~28%
• The associations can also elect to receive a one-off bonus of $20m each, taking the total payout to $8.44bn over four years.
• That amounts to around 56% of FIFA’s self-declared revenues for the 2023-26 cycle *before* adding in the further $4.2bn FIFA says it expects to generate by selling the World Cup.

Setting aside the many, many issues involved in allowing Infantino (or anyone else) to sell football’s crown jewel, this doesn’t even sound like an attractive financial deal…
