झांसी हादसे में कई परिवारों के चिराग बुझ गए. हादसे के समय कई लोग बच्चों की जान बचाने में जुट गए. याकूब मंसूरी ने भी अपनी जान पर खेलकर कई बच्चों की जान बचाई, लेकिन अपनी दो बेटियों को नहीं बचा सके. याकूब की दो जुड़वां बेटियों का मेडिकल कॉलेज में इलाज चल रहा था. हादसे के दौरान य���कूब खिड़की तोड़कर कमरे में घुसे और कई बच्चों को बचाया. लेकिन इस दौरान उन्हें उनकी दोनों बेटियां नहीं मिली.
