For the first time yesterday, I experienced the new @alamodrafthouse QR code ordering system and I can tell you it’s truly awful. Rather than making ordering food and drink more efficient, it actually adds steps to the process AND if you want to order additional items during the film you HAVE to open your phone. No, your cute reference to that irony in your How To Alamo video doesn’t negate how ridiculous this is. Please don’t cut corners with your staff and revert back to physical menus and order cards.
Is there a panel at @CinemaCon about what exhibitors plan to do about people talking and using their phones in movie theaters? Seems like they should address some of the key reasons why going to the cinema has become a bad experience devoid of common courtesy.
If I was a studio exec and saw that Sam Raimi's latest only had a 1% drop, I would automatically green light whatever Sam Raimi produced or directed projects I have on my slate (ESPECIALLY the one I wrote at Universal).
A really fun Q&A with Kleber Mendonça Filho (@kmendoncafilho) after a screening of his Oscar-nominated wonder THE SECRET AGENT. We talked about some of the film’s biggest stars like Tânia Maria and the Hairy Leg, as well as cinema as a vehicle to preserve memory 🇧🇷🏆
For the New York Times I interviewed Ugo Bienvenu about his Oscar nominated film ARCO, the power of hopeful science fiction, and the epiphanies that put him on the path to working in animation.

YOOOOOO, after all that hollering, they didn't even want to watch that Turning Point garbage at MAGA Central, they watched Bad Bunny's beautiful halftime show at Mar-a-Lago!!
BWAHAHAHA!! 🤣🤣🤣
Sam Raimi was literally the man who made me pick up a camera and try to make movies*. He’s been a hero since I was 14. So for him to say this blows me away.
(*Shoutout to the September 1988 episode on Sam Raimi from Channel 4’s ‘Incredibly Strange Film Show’ (hosted by @wossy) which was the true light bulb moment. So inspiring.)
