@kinsie The C64U wasn't a mainstream product. I have a spot in my heart for Commodore. But I don't use my Commodore to browse the web, send emails, watch movies or listen to music.
Where would Commodore have gotten the idea that people would pay upwards of $500 on outdated tech!?
@KabiPlays@BluntzyD I am unaware of Leto's baggage. I'll have to look into it.
But given the level of computer effects and prosthetics, I'm sure there were local community theater actors that could have performed just as well for a whole lot smaller of a budgetary footprint.
@realaaron@CptSparky360 There is no market research that people use or need phones, especially ones that look like they are from 25 years ago. But devices that look like they are 50 years old are hot!

I'll likely never buy a smart watch but should Apple burn in hell because they decided to make it?
Why the hell is Apple making an MP3 player all of a sudden!? Stay in your lane, Apple, and give us an Apple II Mini like we've all been waiting for.
@MuseumCommodore The Ultimate II+ has an FTP and a Telnet server I used to deploy and launch development builds with scripts remotely. I'm guessing the C64U is even smarter in this regard.
@CptSparky360@MuseumCommodore $500 does generally price out Gen Z I suspect. Whoever is moderating the Retro Recipes YouTube channel told me the phone costs more than $250 to make. I'd venture a guess these $50 phones are ones that are sold at a loss specifically to recoup with service fees.
@ModernVintageG Plenty of products some companies make that I have no desire to buy. And these are very successful companies, with or without my purchases.
@commodoreofcl Clearly this is a wellness device Perifractic feels strongly about and has used personally. Companies sell products not everyone buys and that's (inhale)... okay (exhale).
