Community member Tal is now speaking about the energy that we are seeing on defund and abolishing the police. They encourage members of PERA to continue to look into the data that says reform doesn't help.

Shannah - amendments to the CSA, we don't care about the naming. don't waste your energy.

Shannah - we cannot forget that the whole criminal justice system is bad. Prosecutors are invested in prosecution.

Shannah - tools that police use are by companies trying to make a profit, so designs of body cams being able to turn off is purposeful.

Shannah - the policies are all online, including body cams. read them.

Shannah - complaints don't have a time limit! so people who have survived police harassment and abuse more than a year ago can still submit a PERA complaint.

Shannah - there needs to be outreach on what PERA's work is. Tracking Internal Affairs complaints doesn't mean much when police intimidation is real. So we need to let community know there is an alternative.

Shannah - it looks like PERA is taking an approach to shadow PD in ways that concern her. but let's get specific - community outreach has not been it.
