"Criticism is a tax on success. If you're getting criticized, appreciate it. It means you're winning more than you're losing. No one criticizes the underdog, the eight-seed, the perennial loser. Don't let that [criticism] get you down. Enjoy it. You've earned it." @chrisbosh

Coaches play favorites all the time.
They favor toughness, ability, good attitudes/body language, skill, trust, competitiveness, consistency, and leadership.
When it comes to playing time, coaches favor the players who give the team the best chance to win.
Coaches only put people on the field that they can trust. Players only want to play next to teammates they can trust. And you earn that trust, every single day, by being on time, working hard, knowing what to do, and doing everything else it takes to win.

Pete Carroll's 3 Rules:
1. Be Early
"It's all about being organized and showing respect."
2. Protect the Team
"Are you helping or hurting the team? Every decision has an impact."
3. No Whining, Complaining, Excuses
"Positive attracts positive. Negative attracts negative."
These are the hallmarks of great leadership, and we are all better when we learn and live these lessons! Read my full article here https://t.co/cKwOKQCjpL

This is what The Power of a Positive Team looks like. 🙌 Surround yourself with people that lift you up and be the type of person that lifts others up.
Tag a teammate / friend.
Teams can achieve great success when a coach holds everyone accountable to their values.
But teams reach their potential when the athletes can honestly, and respectfully, hold each other accountable.
Sleeping in is a choice.
Rising early is a choice.
Cutting corners is a choice.
Doing extra is a choice.
Eating junk food is a choice.
Eating healthy is a choice.
Skipping reps is a choice.
Attacking the weight room is a choice.
Which choice will you make today?

Parent: I want my child to play college basketball
Coach: Here’s our summer schedule
Parent: We’re gone in July. We’re going to my Aunt Susie’s farm and then to a water park for the lazy river.
Coach: But I thought…never mind enjoy your trips 🤦🏾♂️
Make sure you working on a one page bio to send coaches. Include club and HS coaches contact info, your GPA, any water polo stats and awards you have. Keep it to one page, contact info is the most important. Market yourself!
CIF San Diego has switched swimming / dive to season 1 & moved water polo into season 2. I have been a fan of this change since the sports tiers were announced. I’m all for any solution that gets kids playing safely for their high schools ASAP.
