IASLC expert panel proposes an updated pulmonary carcinoid/NET classification ( Expected to be included into the forthcoming WHO thoracic blue book)

1. Keep “carcinoid” as the main diagnostic term for thoracic clinicians, while moving toward the “NET” nomenclature used in other organs
2. Add Ki-67 as a diagnostic criterion. 5% threshold is pulmonary specific
3. Formally recognize rare carcinoid/NET G3 tumors (higher proliferation, but molecularly closer to NETs than to high-grade NECs)

Here's a little something to liven it up a bit.

I think this is the first time I see apocrine DCIS growing in a pagetoid pattern under apocrine metaplasia, which I believe is a pretty strong hint that this is apocrine metaplasia no more.
