🎙️🚨 Zlatan Ibrahimovic after South Africa beat South Korea to qualify to the next round
🗣️ “I think this is a message to FIFA, they need to bring more African countries to the World Cup. Nigeria should be here too. Africa’s football is different. They don’t play unnecessary passes. when they get the ball, they attack you immediately. That’s the kind of football we want.
Europe’s football is boring, too many back passes and too many tactics. Morocco and South Africa have qualified to the next round. Morocco is the best Africa team in having possession. South Africa is the best in counter attack.
I think an African team will reach the semifinals this year. I’m happy, they deserve it. Africa should be the best, Mbappe should be playing for Cameroon, Olise should be playing for Nigeria and same for Vini too. I wish the whole of Africa luck in this tournament”. 👏
South Africa have written one of the most incredible stories of this World Cup.
After a disastrous opening-game defeat to Mexico, they looked completely out of the tournament. Things got even worse in the second game against Czechia, where they were just minutes away from another defeat and had zero points on the board with less than ten minutes remaining.
A late goal rescued a draw, giving them a lifeline and taking them into the final game with only one point. Almost nobody expected them to get through, especially with South Korea standing in their way after two strong performances in the group.
But when it mattered most, South Africa delivered. Hugo Broos finally found the right formula, and his side produced their best performance of the tournament to secure a famous 1-0 victory.
Just like that, South Africa went from having zero points late in their second game to qualifying with four points, while South Korea crashed out in one of the biggest surprises of the group stage.
A team that almost nobody expected to advance is now through to the knockout rounds. In this World Cup, anything is possible. ❤️
Most South Africans don’t travel outside their country because it already has what other Africans travel to Europe and America to look for.
No DNA, just RSA 🇿🇦
Did you know the CT scan was co-invented by South African physicist Allan McLeod Cormack? 🇿🇦
Yet SA manufactures 0% of them. Instead, our hospitals spend billions importing 350-450 operational scanners from global giants like Siemens, GE, Philips, Canon & United Imaging.
Relying 100% on foreign imports for advanced MedTech leaves us highly vulnerable to currency volatility and supply chain shocks. We have the engineering brains—it’s time to shift from pure consumption to building an industrial manufacturing hub for Africa. 🧠
