The confidence went from ‘our Sugar Pills cure everything’ to ‘Allow us to prescribe your Modern medicine drugs and become modern doctor’ in record time.”
My doctor was always 45 mins late, every visit.
No apology it’s just "Take a seat."
Last time I waited 1 hour 20 mins then I left.
Then wrote a google review. I wasn’t mean but just honest: "Always late, brings a book."2 stars.
He called me that night from his personal cell.
"You think I'm late because I don't respect your time?"
I said "...yes?"
5 years back, I saw something that still hasn’t left me.
A pregnant woman came in.
Healthy. Smiling.
No complications throughout her pregnancy.
No “high-risk” label.
No warning signs.
The kind of case where the whole family walks in expecting just one thing:
a baby’s cry.
Her labour progressed well.
Everything looked routine.
And then…
something happened so fast
that it didn’t even feel real.
She suddenly said:
“I can’t breathe.”
Not mild discomfort.
Not anxiety.
Real breathlessness.
The kind that makes everyone in the room freeze for half a second
before panic takes over.
Her breathing became rapid.
Her face changed.
Her body started trembling.
And within moments
she collapsed.
The room flipped instantly.
From:
“Almost done.”
To:
“CALL FOR HELP.”
From:
“Everything is fine.”
To:
“START CPR.”
Machines started beeping.
Oxygen was rushed.
Lines were placed.
Drugs were pushed.
Seconds felt like minutes.
And then the unthinkable happened.
Despite everything…
she couldn’t be saved.
And then came the part that shattered everyone.
The family saw a perfectly healthy pregnant woman walk in…
and a dead body come out.
They didn’t ask politely.
They didn’t process slowly.
They exploded.
“How can a healthy woman die like this?!”
“There were NO complications in the entire pregnancy!”
“You doctors have killed her!”
Some were crying.
Some were shouting.
Some were blaming anyone they could see.
And honestly…
I couldn’t even blame them.
Because to a normal person, this doesn’t make sense.
A normal pregnancy.
A normal delivery.
And then sudden death?
It feels impossible.
It feels like someone must have “done something wrong.”
But the truth is…
sometimes medicine witnesses something terrifying:
A body can collapse like a switch has been turned off.
I was just a new intern then, I asked my seniors and that day, I learnt the name of that nightmare.
"Amniotic Fluid Embolism"
And that’s when it hit me:
We take pregnancy for granted because we only see the “happy ending.”
But behind the scenes, a woman’s body is walking a tightrope every single day…
and sometimes, everything can change within seconds... without any warning.
A doctor without infra in rural areas = CS engineer without computer.
Maybe this puts you at ease that bonds don’t serve any real function except the state giving Copium to pseudo-socialists like you that they did something for health.
Bonds in 21st century is slavery.
A part of the Indian media and proportion of the public in general expect doctors to take harsh beatings and aggression, and swallow verbal abuses, since being a doctor in India means they are always taken for granted because they are going to be noble with everything including facing violence.
Because the decades long narrative in India is that doctors are looters, they are slaves to pharma and that they are always at your service. People call doctors business members, but expect a quick and free whatsapp consultation.
People are confused. But here is clarity.
The oath, "Do No Harm" is only for the treatments delivered, not to stay silent or play dead when rascals including violent patients attack intentionally and irrationally.
The uncles in regulatory and authority positions are incompetent to see both sides because they are boomers who have zero rational thoughts.
I am happy for the doctor who lost his job "illogically" after serving people for 8 long years. Gives him the freedom to choose something better. Go somewhere better. Do something better. Because do not expect anything from this pseudoscience loving hell hole of a country as a doctor, because you can never find gratitude here.
Times have changed.
Doctors are humans too.
Tread lightly.
The first rule of journalism is to showcase the facts from all angles and not to give judgments.
A doctor was assaulted.
The law will decide guilt — not you.
Who the hell gave you the authority to label a victim a “thug”?
This isn’t journalism. It’s cheap outrage farming.
How much unpaid labour does a resident do.
A resident salary- give or take is around 1 Lakh/month.
Residents are supposed to work 50hr/week.
So, 200 hr/month = 1 Lakh.
So, basically 500₹/hour.
How much a Resident works?
On an average 80-90 hours - so approximately 40 hours per week and 160 hours extra in a month.
Overtime is supposed to be twice of normal but Ill use only 1.25X since we ‘owe’ to govt.
So, on an average 160hours/month * 500₹/hr *1.2x
= 1 Lakh worth of unpaid labour.
So for JRship - it was 36L worth of unalie labour.
Add 3 year of DM/SRship. (Pay is higher but I’ll consider same)
Total amount owed to doctors- 72Lakh.
Doctors don’t owe shit to govt.
You make back everything in unpaid labour and more.
They say govts 'spend lakhs' educating one medical student.
A lazy lie, repeated loudly on X.
Let me show u the real cost paid not in money, but in human life-hours. Effort. Emotions.
Yesterday, my MCh Urology residents walked in at 7 AM.
They rounded on inpatients, listened, reassured, examined, adjusted care.
Every pt, every need. No shortcuts.
Lunch was skipped. Coz,
a cadaver kidney donor had arrived.
They assisted in harvesting d kidneys, knowing there would be no pause, because a transplant cannot wait.
Dinner was skipped too.
At 1: 30 AM, I began the cadaver kidney transplant. They assisted carefully.
We finished at 5 AM.
Not a minute of sleep.
Not a blink of rest.
And yet by morning 8 AM they were back in the same OT, assisting routine surgeries again.
Coz pts were waiting.
Because duty does not care about exhaustion.
Post-OT, they rushed to OPD.
150 patients.
Catheters. Dilatations. Scans. Pain. Fear. Hope-handled gently, under pressure, without complaint.
Final ward rounds.
Only after all these, at 4 PM did he/she leave.
That is 36+ hours of continuous work.
No sleep.
Two skipped meals.
Sustained focus while handling lives.
These are not 22-year-olds chasing degrees.
They are 35-40 year old doctors, with spouses, children, ageing parents at home.
Their stipend?
₹62,000 per month.
In the middle of this, a saw a pt picking up a quarrel, demanding 'special' Rx, declaring himself a 'VIP'. In Tamilnadu, all pts r relatives of Donald Trump, or VIP- X,Y or Z.
This schedule repeats atleast twice every week.
When pilots do long hours, we call it fatigue.
When residents do it, we call it dedication,& move on.
So don’t insult us with nonsense about trillions spent on medical education. Doctors don’t get subsidised degrees.
They pay with their youth, sleep, health, and family life.
I walked this road decades ago.
My residents walk it today.
And if ur child chooses medicine, God forbid, U will finally understand what it costs.
Not money.
LIFE.
Got multiple DMs and threats telling me to delete this post.
Ask yourself this, why does one tweet shake an entire industry?
I am not deleting anything.
If a system collapses from a simple screenshot, maybe the problem isn’t the tweet.
This malpractice has gone unchecked for decades, and people deserve to know.
This is the prescription of an Ayurvedic doctor.
Can someone explain why every single drug written here is allopathic?
We see hundreds of such prescriptions of homeopathy, Ayurveda, “traditional healers” casually writing even powerful antibiotics like Meropenem for simple diarrhea.
Is Ayurveda just becoming a shortcut for less-meritorious people to practice modern medicine and that too incorrectly?

🎬 #KantaraChapter1
If you thought Kantara was monumental, you need to set your expectations even higher. What unfolds on screen is nothing less than a labour of devotion, a cinematic offering that leaves you with a divine experience, delving into a darker, grittier realm of faith, divinity, and the sacred connection with the land, instead of merely checking boxes or feeding off the nostalgia of Kantara.
The first half may feel light-hearted with unnecessary and forced humour, but as the story unfolds, the folklore at its core takes centre stage, showing exactly how stories rooted in our culture and history should be celebrated and showcased with reverence of the highest order. The vision and the climax are works of sheer devotion you are simply not prepared for.
This isn’t just storytelling; it’s the new benchmark, with Rishab Shetty at the helm outdoing himself.
Regional is universal.
