Badruddin Faiz Tyabji, Know him? He designed the final form of our tricolor with Ashoka's Dharmachakra in the middle. I do not know (acting) if this is one reason Savarkar & the RSS vehemently opposed Tricolor. However, he was the man who opposed Charkha in the middle of the Tricolor as it was a symbol of a political Party at that time & a country that came into existence with the idea of Democracy - Liberty, Equality, Fraternity could send a wrong note.

From Sept 1946, proved to be an extremely difficult and dark period. It was all about work and very little sleep. Nehru & his little team were restless. No he never claimed 18-18 Ghanta kaam. There were innumerable nights when they had to keep awake without a wink. There were telephone calls throughout the night, mostly from Muslims under attack by savage mobs.

Once, after midnight, the Secy of Nehru received news on the telephone that Badruddin Tyabji's residence was under attack. He ordered a police jeep from the security camp near Nehru's house at 17 York Road. It was not possible to arrange a Force at midnight in those days in the blink of an eye.

Nehru, who was still working upstairs, heard the noise of the jeep and the policemen & he came racing down. He asked his Secy where he was going. He replied that there was no time to lose. He didn't disclose the matter to Nehru at first.

Though Nehru jumped into the jeep. He sensed some wrong. How could he neglect that. He was not some Supreme Leader or 56" but a common Indian who adores & cares about his fellow companions and colleagues. He couldn't leave him alone at midnight while the city was on fire with communal riots. His Secy M.O. MATHAI recalled the incident:

"I almost got crushed between him and the driver. In the jeep I explained the position to him."

When they arrived at Badruddin Tyabji's place, they found Dewan Chaman Lal, who was staying in the next house, is making a valiant effort alone to prevent the mob.
Whatever were Chaman Lall's faults, he was a thoroughly non-communal person. On their arrival on the scene, the cowardly mob ran away. It was not a hard task for them to take care of a handful of people in a jeep but as it was a bunch of anti-social mouse, so escaped. Also, If Nehru & his Secy didn't arrived in time Chaman Lal would get lynched by that mob in effort of saving house of Tyabji.

Badruddin Tyabji was shaken but didn't choose to escape/leave. He stayed here and in future years immensely contributed in the development of this country.

Plz share your views on this act of Nehru often being addressed as weak, cowardly, a gamer.
Nehru was bad, vile, weak and the worst person ever born on earth. Maybe these titles will remain attached to him forever but there were endless events related to this person's life never revealed, never talked about, neither used for big election campaigns/advertisements.

When Pandit Nehru took the task of building the nation, it was scattered, a ravaged health system, going through communal riots, famines. However, in 1947 when Nehru took the charge, the average life expectancy rate in India was 31 years, when he died in 1964 the Life expectancy rate of a citizen was nearly 50yrs in average.

When Atal Bihari Vajpayee demanded debate in the middle of the Indo-China war, Nehru agreed to hold debate at the Parliament. He didn't decline the demand by saying "Na koi Aaya hai/ Na koi Ghusa hai".

He was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who himself drafted his speech on 15th Aug, 1947 and used to be recognized as one of the finest writers in the world at that time. 🌺🌹
