@kvali_app @AghlabidEnjoyer Yeah, it's great to see, for example, an Anatolian Turk with an Oghuz Y-HG but this doesn't make them more Turkic than a Kazakh with Mongolian Y-HG. Kazakhs have much more medieval Turkic admixture and this makes them more Turkic, even the ones with Mongolian Y-HG.

@kvali_app @AghlabidEnjoyer No, I think haplogroups are super important and very interesting! They just don't have anything to do with one's ethnicity "on their own". It has more importance for the formation details of a ethnicity as a whole. You know, for the bigger picture.

I hope this is a some kind of joke since a portion of the DNA that doesn't code or regulate proteins surely can't be a measure of something like ethnicity. It has no effect in our lives. @kvali_app That nomenclature is obsolete. O3 is O2 in the latest ISOGG tree.

O1a => O1a
O2a => O1b1
O2b => O1b2
O3 => O2

Frankly, this is why longhand names are really confusing and I'm grateful shorthand nomenclature is the norm at the moment, even though longhand looks cool.

As you can see from the picture, North Africans were exposed to West Eurasian gene flow since Paleolithic times. And we can see a "Natufian-like" gene flow to East Africa in Mesolithic-Neolithic.

@ChukkerNational @ChrisStringer65 East Africans are between West Africans and Non-Africans. Same for the North Africans, only they are much more closer to Non-Africans than East Africans. This is the rough explanation for it.
