@plopesresearch Early VR research times. Additionally, all the work done during 2010-2020. I have found most of the VR papers from these years to be incredibly fascinating!

Welcome all~~~
Seeing so much of the dark side of academia come to light is truly disheartening. Yet it is definitely needed if we're to find negative patterns and correct them moving forward. Hoping that one day there could come an end to all the exploitation in academia, and otherwise.
Was shocked to hear about the predatory and unethical conduct of a certain award-winning senior faculty in the ACM community. The victims claimed that this person outright stole their work without crediting them and made them do research whilst refusing to have them as coauthors.
Definitely true. I conducted a small 10 person pilot study to evaluate a system's effectiveness and it was definitely more informational than had I just conducted it to prove that my system worked
2. User study as an iteration
If running a study to prove your system works, you can always find a way to game it.
Instead, run a conventional usability study as an intermediate step to help you improve the system and present the final version in the paper.
Preparing a guest lecture on "How to write a good paper?" for 1st year CS Ph.D. students at @umdcs tomorrow.
I guess that other students may also be interested in the topic. Feel free to join the discussions tomorrow!

60% of my time is spent seated vs the 40% that's spent playing standing up. Better seated usability would, in my opinion, allow for more accessibility especially for those who have trouble standing up, are sick, or have a lack of space available for gameplay
I have been playing seated VR lately. With a cable. I have been negative about both in the past. I think I was wrong about seated being bad. We need more actually. It needs to be pushed that VR is accessible to lazy people. Because I'm sure 90% of humans are nowadays.
