We are regular Vancouver parents. We know sometimes school boards need to make hard decisions and close schools.
We also know that @VSB39 needs more help to get back to truth, transparency, fairness, and reality.

@Ayan604 One of many shocking examples of VSB's flawed planning is that with 11,000 people expected to live at Senakw, VSB projects in 10 yrs Henry Hudson Elem., next door, will have 101 fewer students. VSB needs to recognize they provide the public goods that make or break densificaton!

@Ayan604 VSB isn't just responding to decline in families, but is a big driver of this decline! Many families don't have stable, local schools. Closing/selling schools and VSB land (QEA, Fleming, Bruce, Carleton & more) making it much worse. Also a big driver of private school enrolment.

Trustees start mtgs with an invocation that participants (including trustees + staff) model the behaviour expected of students. The VSB can start by modelling due process, fairness, transparency & accountability! Enough with VSB "do as I say, not as I do."

@harjitkhangura ABC in particular said they were against school closures. The first seconds of Ken Sim's victory speech included the line "we'll listen to parents." The last weeks - with huge moves to close schools or sell school lands (QEA, Fleming, Bruce and Carleton) show this was a lie.

@JebaraRami @VSB39 VSB counsel made it clear that they believe staff have unfettered discretion to dispose of programs and schools. Hard to believe unless you look at the school closures and sales (to name just Fleming, Bruce and Carleton) that are following fast on QEA's heels!
