thrilled to share @IITU_Tsinghua@Tsinghua_Uni our new story in @NeuroCellPress - surface TMEM119 controls microglial phagocytic setpoint, signals through tankyrase-axin to regulate actin cytoskeleton, enabling pharmacological forgetting by peptide drugs https://t.co/3YkVNsJjvM
@3DiMMUNE Good thought. True that some details are yet to be worked out. However, I'd argue "self-nonself" question is posed in a framework that is itself to be updated into a homeostasis-based framework naturally incorporating Treg and innate sensing. No need to beat the old path.
Thrilled to share my World View on what is coming for Immunology -- If the past century taught us how the immune system recognizes and reacts to the world, the next era may teach us how immunity helps the organism to interpret, maintain and change itself. https://t.co/ZvMTD4ZNUb
Prof. Chen Ning Yang, a world-renowned physicist, Nobel Laureate in Physics, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor at Tsinghua University, and Honorary Director of the Institute for Advanced Study at Tsinghua University, passed away in Beijing due to illness at the age of 103. His life stands as a timeless chapter in human history—one that shines not only for China but for the global community of thinkers and innovators. His legacy will live on forever.
@ImmunityCP reports on this fantastic conference on lymphocyte biology and immunotherapy, which I co-organized with Mark Davis, Carola Vinuesa @carovinuesa, and Laura Mackay @LMackayLab back in March. We will repeat it next year in Beijing. Stay tuned.

Just out in in @JExpMed, our new work by @xil2020 reveals that T-independent germinal centers not only form but also output memory B cells and plasma cells. Longevity of these Bmem and PCs appears to depend on GC experience per se. /1

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
@mosasaurus27 Good question. Among all antigen-binding IgD- MBCs, only a fraction (~25%) are from GCs and truly functional, demonstrable by genetic fate-mapping. These are functional (another Immunity paper from 2024, pmid 38889716). We are analyzing their epigenetics with or w/o IL-9.
(1/4) Our newest discovery on B-cell memory, just published @ImmunityCP: the development of memory B cells from germinal centers requires IL-9 derived from T cells, which instructs MBC development through the action of transcription factor ZBTB18. https://t.co/pRApOura5U
(4/4) for specialists only - there is no role for B cell-derived IL-9 in promoting MBC development or recall function. Wildtype B cells made into MBCs in a primary response without IL-9 cannot function normally even when recalled in a host fully competent of IL-9.
(3/4) Reading to this point means you are MBC aficionado, so here are more details:
Without ZBTB18, IL-9 can no longer promote MBC development; Enforced ZBTB18 expression rescues memory defect due to IL-9.
